Just for information sharing, went to change my vnd at arcade just now. was given 500k and 50k notes. heng, not too many pieces in total. probably will try to get some 100k and 200k when we are there.

for usd, was given 50s, though my colleague said he got 10s, 20s, 100s for his recent trip, guess it depends what they have.

500K is only $30 sgd. Its not too big. u can break it anywhere.
Unlike 500 EUR note. You go europe, no one dare to take.

Keep your VND. Keeping VND is like keeping USD
If you are always going to Vietnam... You can change more to keep if the rate is good like 100 sgd = 1.72/1.73million

It is safe to pull a bag with wheels along the streets in Saigon?

I normally do that in other countries. Inside the bag got bottles of water, umbrella, power bank and 1 tablet.

Not really... Most of the walkways I know are not very "walk-friendly"
They are mainly for motor drive up. And the conditions are not very good either.
Conditions are better around famous shopping malls and luxury hotels

Is the visa-free period for Singaporeans 30 days ?

Saw some website (seemingly masquerading as a government site) claiming it is 14 days only.
Well.... It's up to the custom officer attending to you to decide whether they wanna give you maximum 30days

Well...afaik Airport custom officers are empowered by their respective garment to decide how many days of Tourist visa to grant each foreigner entering their country, according to their garment regulations.

They can even give you the tourist visa according to the date on your return flight ticket, maybe +- 2-3 days.

They are not required to explain or entertain questions regarding "why only so few days for the visa"

But so far, I have been quite lucky to be granted max 30days every entry

any hotels to recommend to stay around benh thanh market? budget around less than 150 per night..

hcm ben thanh market nearby, many 3/4* hotels ...
prices for 3* normally $40+ to $70+ per nite for two
prices for 4*/5* normally $90+ to $200+ per nite for two

do note that for hcm hotels, generally most of them "expand" their room size.
have stayed over 10+ hotels in hcm nearby ben thanh ...
no matter is 3* / 4*, their room size doesnt match what was shown on their website ...

For example,
a 3* hotel superior room 24m2, might just seems like 16 to 17 m2
4* deluxe 28m2 hotel might just looked like a 22m2 to 24m2 ...

most hotels have bath tub, their wifi not bad for some of the 3* / 4*

breakfast wise, 4* hotels normally provide better varieties and choices
if you staying 3* hotel, can look into these few hotels which provides breakfast which are above average for 3* hotel in terms of choices
vien dong, lan lan1 , lan lan 2, elios, le duy ...
