Hi, i am reaching Ho Chi Minh on Jetstar at 1700. However, i would like to catch another Jetstar flight e.g. 1740, 1830 to Hanoi e.g. 1950, 2040. And, then catch the night train in Hanoi to Lao Cai.

Please advise if this plan is feasible within 1 day. I' m worried that the flights may be delayed or there's traffice jam from Hanoi airport to train station (since it's a Sat).

In addition, may i know if there's any train tickets (preferably soft sleeper) to Sapa that can be purchased on the spot e.g. at train station?

Roughly when would the peak seasonal surcharges kick in? coz mi and my friends are still in the midst of discussion.

another question. would the peak seasonal surcharges affect the prices of local tours or issit juz the hotels prices?

it will affect private tours and open tours due to over demand of guides but it will not affect as much as the room rates of the hotels.

My friends and I have decided to go HCMC this Decemeber and was thinking of Elios Hotel... There's four of us and we were thinking, if its possible to book a Deluxe or Executive (both at 36 sq meters) and request for more beds

Hi, your flight from saigon to hanoi would take 2 hours approximately..

Last Train to Lao Cai is at 2210hrs (subject to change) hence it is too risky. There are soft seat categories as well as sleep bunkers category. Tickets can be purchased on the spot but it is a little risky if there are no seats available of your preference.

We intend to spend around 6-7 days in Vietnam:

So roughly our itinerary is this,
Day 1-3 HCMC,
3/4 Dalat by bus then,
5-7 Nha Trang and back to HCMC by rail

Does it seem too rushed? Any suggestions cause we need to settle this before we actually can fix the number of days to stay in the hotel.

It should be the 7th day's evening, cause now we are troubled over whether we should make HCMC first or the last destination as we predict that there will be less things to buy over at Nha Trang/Dalat compared to HCMC.

So my friends are suggesting that, when we touch down at HCMC, we go Nha Trang/Dalat first, then rail back and spend the last 3 days at HCMC to save troubles like carrying around too much, and if the rail/bus got some unforseen delays then affect our departure schedule...

Yes, you could do HCM Last if you preferred, that way, u dun have heavy baggage to drag around during your trips to dalat, nha trang.. and it would also be wise to avoid any unforseen circumstances that might delay your departing flight on the last day.

about 120km , you can either go by private transport by land (1 hour and half to 2 hours++) , or you can take a speed boat at the saigon river jetty (45minutes ride)

er.. the closeset land border to Cambodia is 2 hours drive from HCM (Moc Bai border) and then another 5hours approximate to phnom penh if my memory serves me correctly..

May i know the train company which has train departing hanoi at 2210? You mentioned that it's subjective to changes. If the person in charge agrees to pick me up frm the airport to the train st then does it mean that the train can depart later than scheduled?

hi yar, subject to changes can mean, a last minute engine problem can/might delay the train from departing, or due to influx of tourists, train routes has being increased... or due to forces of mother nature... So a person picking you up at the airport might not realise that there might have being a slight delay in the train departure until you've reached the station..

i've not gone to sapa sun market before, but sapa is a good experience if you would like to know the ethnic minority culture in Vietnam..the scenary for taking photos up in sapa i heard is nice as well..
