erm nope how long is it?

maybe easier to see a map of Vietnam. :o

Halong Bay is already 3.5 hours from Hanoi. HCM is near the bottom. You can estimate how long it will take by bus. If want to take bus, think best to maybe take overniter to Hoi An, stop there for a short rest and maybe make some clothes before you take another overniter. But I think v difficult with your 5D4N. Not sure if its possible to take train.

Train takes 32 hours... and lets not talk about the local cabin.. the deluxe train cabin (which most foreigners use) leaves only once per day at different schedule :s22:

ya lor. since he going with his mom, might be a good idea to either just explore HCM and vicinity or fly direct to Hanoi if he really wants to go Halong Bay. Easier for older folks mah. :)

maybe you can go HCM instead? I think 5D4N is ok for HCM. Can explore HCM for 1-2 days then can do day trips to Mekong delta and vicinity. Less tiring for your mom and fairly easy to book hotel through Techadd

Thanks for the advise. If stay near benh thanh market area, or pham ngu lao area, do I need to book in advance? Or I can back pack? Maybe going next Thursday but nothing firm yet.

I am visiting vietnam during October. Was quoted $378 usd per pax for a 3D2N trip to Nha Trang by Sinhcafe.

Anyone knows of any simliar package at lower prices?:D

Decided to do this one instead

4 Days Danang Hoian Hue
(Book Now) Tour Code: 4HD

Its closer to Ho Chi Minh.

My mum has been to HCM at night for work before. Shes says there's not much there cause she went at night.

To respect her wishes I decided to to the Danang one instead. Its closer to HCM but not HCM itself.

Hanoi next time I will book the air tickets first then take leave instead of the other way around.

Lesson learnt :p

book in advance if you are not backpacking, if you are backpacking, you can try looking at the backpack hostels there when u arrive. although it will take some time looking for a one thats suited to your requirement,u can always as k to view the rooms before checking in at the backpack hostels.
