U will definitely use some dong.... bring a few hundreds SGD, change 100 first if not enough then change again. If u r changing small amount, lugi few dollars only. Go n enjoy your trip, dun bother abt few dollars.

On avg I spend about 10-20sgd for meals per day cos I dun eat by the roadside.
No subway, just taxi n most vietnamese don't speak english.

From the menu, it is in USD. If u order n no USD, u can pay by dong, then the rates will be bad.

the reason i'm asking cos I also kinda like tat place. but i dont know why, i just like there..
I have been to thailand those rural areas and city areas but i still like viet wor..

i have yet to go the northern part of viet. hopefully i have the chance to return there.

vietnam is a very laid back place. if u visit places like sapa, halong bay and hoi an, you will get what i meant. i felt very relaxed during my stay and it's like every burden got shoved of my shoulders. vietnam is not only about scenery. it's the pace of their lifestyle that is charming. sadly, the economy is blooming, it's a matter of time before the pace pick up. do visit vietnam again while u still can.

I agree being here for 6yrs and the city central is ever changing..and in a few months time, Hard Rock Cafe Saigon is official (located in the shopping complex of the Asiana Plaza, which is adjacent to the intercontinental hotel)

The living expenses sadly though are not that cheap anymore..

generally, everyone accepts payment in USD, but its not advisable as their return exchange rate to you will be very low..pay everything in vnd is much better

most singaporeans usually book hotels near the ben thanh market that is within the city central. some traders can speak little or fair amount of English. so buying stuffs in the city central is not really that difficult.

Lots of tourists stay around Ben Thanh market with clean decent hotels at about 20USD per night. In Ben Thanh market, mostly can speak simple basic english or at least they understand "how much" They will bring out a calculator n show u the price.
