DALAT

Hi all,

Recently, I went to HCMC and Dalat on my vacation. I will write about Dalat since HCMC is already much discussed in this forum. I spent 3 full days in Dalat since I want to take my own sweet time in such a cool weather and scenic place. ;)

Dalat is 50min flight or 7hr bus away northeast from HCMC.
Flight is around $50 and bus is less than $10.
Here are some pictures.

Mei Xuan Huong Cafe

Some 2 cents worth:
  • Request for hotel room that faces the back of hotel away from road coz road is noisy early morning with all the horning.
  • I stayed in this inn YK Home Villa (click here) and find it to be excellent in terms of service and travel advice. Location is also away from the hustle and bustle of central.
  • There are several very good looking cafes that serves coffee $0.70
  • Take only Phuong Trang and Mailinh Taxi
  • Preserved fruits are good buy
  • Several scheduled Phuong Trang buses go from HCMC to Dalat every day
  • Wear long pants and a jacket should be enough for the cool weather. Seldom windy there.

Cheers. Can always email me for enquiries about this place.

1 day not enough. 2 days should be good. 3 days if you want to relac relac take own sweet time enjoy weather.

Flights can be booked online at vietnam airlines website. Take note that the dalat airport is 30km south of Dalat so have to take either taxi ($13) or shuttle bus ($2.50)

Feedback neede??

Hi jqpooling,

I've been to Vietnam twice, you need state more detail, area that you will be visiting?
Duration? first time going?

if first time i suggested you stay in one city neither Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City since communication will be a barrier to you. if you wan to travel outside main city to places like dalat or Hue, do some research first make sure you know.

For Ho Chi Minh City, visit Chi Minh Museum Reunification Palace Cu Chi Tunnels Notre Dame Cathedral Ben Thanh Market for example.

Hi,

I will aso be vsiting vietnam in Dec. Wll be going to HCM - Dalat - Nha Thrang - HCM.

Did a search on the web and discovered a amusement park in Nha Thrang called 'Vinepearl'. Anyone been there before? Any reviews? Is it worth going as from what I can find is that there is this long cable car ride which cost 300000 dong ($30 sgd) and is the world longest cable car ride. Feels too ex for me?? and also the rides are outdated. Anyone keen to share??

Secondly, I am concern about the safety. As I will be going with only 1 friend and I am hoping to visit some scenic places there for photgraphy. Was wondering if it is safe to just bring my cam or I must hide it when I walk along streets. It would be very cumbersome if I would need to bring a big bag when I go out... Any comments?

Tks
