can i check if it will be better to be paying for purchases in USD or VND? as I'm holding on to some USD that I have not made use of for a long time.

i'm looking at purchasing one or two paintings and probably The North Face bag(s), jacket(s) and pant(s) depending on what I actually see there.

I have seen online and recommendations are pointing towards Saigon Square for TNF items.

There are different grades in quality. Do watch out.

understood. read online that there are some that don't even last the next trip but there are some that are still lasting even after the many trips that they have been on.

i usually pay by vnd for purchases in local market .

saigon square more atas area. prices might be abit more expensive compared to ben than market.

Hanoi, Sapa / Mai Chau+NinhBinh, Halong

just booked a promo tix from Vietnam Airline to Hanoi for this coming Sat (26-Apr) to Sat (3-May). That makes my trip 8D7N. But technically only 6D5N as i land at 4pm, and fly back 10am.

I believe its been posted before and apologies I did not took the effort to scroll thry 250+ pages for the info, and hope someone could link me to as its like 2days away from now :)

Hanoi and Halong Bay is definitely on my list. Next is SAPA or MaiChau+NinhBinh. Sapa is probably higher on my list but like to get a 2nd opinion.

Brief schedule atm in mind below. Anyone can give some suggestions?
Again very apologetic if all these info were posted before yet I am asking again.

Day 1, Sat 26-Apr => Land in Hanoi, + night train/transport to SAPA
- directions to train stations etc. Can anyone help to link me up?
- accommodation in Sapa recommendation
- guide or rent a car better?

Day 2, Sun, 27-Apr => Sapa (Day 1)

Day 3, Mon, 28-Apr => Sapa (Day 2)

Day 4, Tue, 29-Apr => Sapa (Day 3), night train back to Hanoi.

Day 5, Wed, 30-Apr => Hanoi - Halong Bay + Cruise
- any recommended cruise to take?
- can the tickets be purchased on site?
- 3d2n or 2d1n is sufficient?

Day 6, Thu, 1-May => Halong Bay cruise

Day 7, Fri, 2-May => Halong Bay - Hanoi

Day 8, Sat 3-May => Hanoi to SG

depends on what ur lookin for actually..vietnam dun really sell dress shirt, but polos and tees are a huge sales for them..also they are more willing to cut price if u purchase more..better than bkk since i went in jan..they were turned off upon knowing i wanna ask for discounts and totally ignore..the attitude is damn bad at those few popular shopping places..

if you have the time to haggle price..do it at ben thanh since almost every stall along the lane will sell the same thing, you can always ask for a cheaper price and wait till u hit a price ur comfortable with. for me, vietnam have a larger variety for what i want, tees,polos,sportswear and shoes..but bkk have to go around cos mostly all girls item

They have 1 and 2 and 3 day Mekong Delta tour options. If you are going for just 1 day, the tour shouldn't cost more than 250k vnd per pax.

If you don't plan to shop much, 600k vnd per pax per day should be enough for food and day tour expenses.

How many days are you planning to stay at hcm? I am assuming 3D2N, in which case SGD150/pax is enough (600K vnd x 3), or change 200 if you want to be safe. Add another SGD 30 to 50 if you planning to stay 4D3N. 300 is way too much imho.
