bus trip almost 3hrs wor ... total 5-6hrs travel in a day .. abit rush & tiring
stay 1 night to look see and try their food

They have just opened a new highway to Sapa. Now we can take a 5 hours bus ride to sapa instead of a tiring 9 hours overnight train. Hanoi airport also has a new international terminal. The old intl terminal looks worse than our air conditioned bus interchange.

Not so cold le, around 12 ~ 18 degree when I was there last week. With 2 ~ 3 layers of clothes, the feeling is like cold aircon.

i guess Hanoi's winter is simlar to HK and Taiwan's winter. It is cooling and you won't freeze to death.

best place for diving will probably be at Phu Quoc but I have yet to try it and not going to expect much, better off in Malaysia or Indo imo.

things to do in vietnam

For 9 days..too short time to go hanoi, sapa, hcm and beach resort. A flight time from sin-hcm is 1.3hrs..from HCM- hanoi is 2.5 hrs...
If in Hanoi..stick to just the surroundings..and maybe a 2 night to Sapa. ( u can go by train or the new highway..journey between 5-9 hrs depending on mode of transport.)
Can do a 1 night to Halong Bay or a day trip or if u wish stay overnight on a 'junk' boat or one of the luxurious boat.
If u only do HCM..from HCM..can do a 2 day trip to danang ( Beach resort) or to Dalat ( uphill..it is beautiful this time of the year). All to save time..book on domestic flight..either jetstar, Vietnam air ( check web for special promo prices).
In HCM..must try besides food, is travel with Vespa to country side, street food..check out Zoom Cafe tel:84-1222993585; ( for vespa rides and food)...the same owner for Zoom cafe and vespa rides
You can get good massage at a fraction of spore prices in clean, 5 star environment at Spa Etcetera tel :+(848)62963835.
Shopping - Walk around Dong Khoi street ( the orchard rd of spore), Ben Thanh Market and Saigon square for Bargains.

Best for 1 way ticket is the budget airline..look out for prices ..Tiger, jetstar, Lionair.
SQ and VN have good promo prices but return flight..u may want to consider

a&em phan boi chau hotel ... but very small room even so called executive deluxe

basically all hotel around ben thanh room very small and price around $70 for double deluxe

grab a vietnam sim card mobifone locally in singapore if you going vietnam and need calling + data, can be found at : Travel Bazaar - www.hardwarezone.com.sg

give the number to friends relative, etc before even going vietnam

than you can also google map to navigate around easily..
