parameters, 5000 parcels per month. lol.

I use CGW. So far no complaints. paid 53USD for 7lbs. a bit ex but oh well, can't complain. DHL service. Super fast.

I was thinking of switching to MYUS, but not sure if its more expensive? :S

with corp account, factoring all taxes and fuel surcharges, my friend's company gets about US$5/KG. so with much higher volumes, i'm sure the merchants can get a better rate.

A lot of times it is the human work required to do the paper work etc for international shipping, as contrary to Asia culture, US factors in more on people's time as well.

But things are starting to change with these services that we have. Even iHerb now has Eurasia shipping, same as Qoo10, as an alternative.

If you have not inquired about the possibility of repacking yet, you may wanna consider doing it; repacking could still be done.

On quite a few occasions I had shipments which did not have the selectable repack option but were repacked eventually after I sent emails to them simply by asking them to review those packages on the possibility of repacking.

no choice but had to ship it over cos my colleague needs the item urgently

but thanks for the info! next time try that out

Borderlinx sux... they billed my credit card for a US conciege order but no package after 2 weeks. Emailed them, suddenly say merchant cancelled order, yet never bother to inform me. Now wants to refund me.

Not only kena whack by moving foreign exchange, but Citibank adds spreads to the Buy USD rate and deducts from the Refund from BL.

No package, yet lost at least 6% of my purchase price

So that is the catch! I just read and realised the process takes three working days! How to get deals? LOL!

i only use before vpost and borderlinx. both also dont bother to repack :/

Not true. I have had smaller items box removed and they repack it with DHL plastic envelope and they cut out the address part of the box and put together with the repacked item.

So, they do repack! If they open up your item to check and choose not to reuse the box. I once had a small item and BL used their "smallest" (I assume) envelope which incur higher shipping fee all without my knowledge until I received the package.

I will jump right to my question. I plan to buy a few clothing from different merchants. After consolidating these few packages, will Borderlinx or Comgateway repackage them to the smallest volumetric weight to cut down my shipping cost?

Repacking does not always means lower shipping cost!

To your question, yes! They repack on request for multiple items.

I'd recommend you try comgateway. I started using them about 1 year ago, shipped more than 10 orders already (roughly 1 shipment monthly), and totally no problems so far. If you're a DBS cardholder, they also give u free express upgrade, VERY FAST SHIPPING!! :) I get my packages from the US in 3 days.

I have friends that have used vpost before, they said it's cheaper but more troublesome and also much much much slower. If you want to save money and don't mind waiting, maybe u can try vpost.

U paid USD53 for 7 pounds shipment?? Yesterday I paid USD51 for 6.5 KG (about 14 pounds) shipment!
I got 5% off for being a DBS cardholder, but still that doesn't explain why I paid so much less. Plus the $51 includes my repacking fee.

Maybe u should get a DBS card if ure gonna use comgateway regularly. Got 5% off and free express upgrade.

Wow lucky, I also want 10% off! haha :p
Uh, but why didn't u consolidate your packages? U could have sent both packages in 1 shipment, that'll be even cheaper. I always wait for a few packages to come then I send all at one time.

I was contemplating whether to wait for it to come then ship out, or ship out the first one first. Since the first one that arrived was my friend's package, i thought i would ship it out first and hopefully get it on monday morning and pass it to my friend before i fly off to penang in the afternoon.:s22:

another factor was prime because i was just 1 more package to prime :s13:

but looking at the tracking now i dont think i can get it on monday :( it haven arrived in HK compared my previous packages, which by the 3rd day afternoon reach HK alr.

I have used Comgateway many many times. Everytime before I choose the shipper, I will check between Comgateway and Bordelinx... and Borderlink always much expensive than comgateway.... shipment for clothing and sports supplements, comgateway darn cheap. Down with vpost! It's the worst. (All stated are my own personal experience)

Oh i understand. Hope u get your packages asap. From my experience, u should definitely receive the Wednesday shipment by Monday, just that u may not get it in the morning before u leave for Penang. Sometimes it arrives in the afternoon or even the evening.

Great, now ure a comgateway Prime member. :) U do save quite a bit as a Prime member.

pwned. bought a pair of winter boots which costs US$60, and shipped it to vPost. Shipping cost came up to S$100 (2.8kg actual weight --> 9.6 kg volumetric weight).
Didn't see any option for repacking but I've sent them an email. What are my chances for getting them to repack? The idea of paying $100 for shipping doesn't sound appealing at all.. :(
