I used Express Shipping... it wasn't that much of a difference than Standard...
To see yourself; click on the "Cost Calculator" link on the header section of Viaddress.com homepage.

For users wanting to ship from US/Europe/Japan through vPOST, please read this and be warned. I ordered an electronic item from vPOST shopping link (which brought me to a shopping page linked to amazon mercharts pages). The item that I bought was to be shipped via vPOST. Today I received an email from them stating the following. I guess some policies have changed for the worse, so be warned........
___________________________

Dear Sir/Mdm,

Item concerned: Digital Camera (contains battery)

We regret to inform you that your order consists of one or more of the
following: wine or alcoholic beverages/battery/perfume/paints/spray/lithium
battery
which is categorized under prohibited items. We regret we are unable to
process this invoice. Please arrange with your merchant not to deliver your
item to the vPOST shipping address.

If your merchant has already forwarded your package, we can assist to make
arrangement for the package to be returned to sender or forward it to another
US address upon receiving. Please note that for returning or forwarding of
such packages, an administrative fee of S$10 per package is chargeable and you will also be required to pay for the return or forwarding postage.
Alternatively, you may arrange with your sender / merchant to pickup the
package from the vPOST shipping address. You may follow up with the seller /
merchant for refund after the package is returned.
___________________________

Damn! Kena pwded by vPOST. First they enticed me with a shipping link at their website to shop for items from US merchants. Then they allowed me to proceed with the transaction to buy a 'prohibited item', then after amazon.com merchant posted the item, vPOST tells you to return your item for a shipping fee + admin fee.

Please be warned or be pwded!

Stay far away from vPOST!

U ordered prohbited items mah.

My wife and I took some time to research all the companies that offer package forwarding outside the USA by establishing a US address.

Here is the list we came up with:

Vpost
Usa2me
Viaddress
Bongous
Borderlinx
Shipito
Usglobalmail.com

We each compared the Shipping prices between them based on the shipping calculators on these sites, We came to the one conclusion : Viaddress.com offers the lowest shipping prices to forward a package outside the US, using FEDEX/UPS/DHL.

They offer 2 types of services: $4.95/package forwarding or $9.95/month for Unlimited number of packages to be forwarded and one can cancel the monthly subscription anytime with no penalties like in the case of some other companies.

The Demo video on Viaddress.com explains how their service works and I have found nothing but good reviews about them on the web.

After chatting with one of their agents, I found out that they offer international customers with a US address just a couple of hours from Fedex international HUB in the state of Indiana...Very Smart !... this actually ends up saving a few days of package routing within the USA.

To test drive their service, I purchased the $4.95/package forwarding service and provided me with my US address within a few minutes.

Last week I purchased some Night vision Binoculars from Adorama using Overnight shipping... So check out this timeline:

Monday: Purchase made on Adorama.com
Tuesday: Package arrives at my address with VIADDRESS (They forwarded it the same day!)
Thursday: Fedex driver showed up with my package at my house in Serangoon, SG

Talk about fast service...

This is my unbiased opinion, and I hope this helps guys ;)

Finally someone who uses more than the usual services. ANy CC they accept right?

They sent mine by Fedex Express (2 days from US to SG)

They're located 2 hours from the main Fedex International HUB in Indiana, US ... this actually ends up saving a few days of package routing within the USA.

I would recommend to check their FAQ's about UPS & DHL if you must use UPS & DHL ...
However Fedex is known to be the best for International shipping.

is there any work around to buy from newegg using borderlinx? borderlinx concierge has a limit of 10 items or USD$500 according to their website and i cant order a laptop which is over $1k

I did some more digging about Viaddress.com and they do also offer a concierge service if you wanna buy on Newegg or Ebay.com.
I also found their account on Ebay (Since 2006)

This is from FAQ's on Viaddress.com:

3) Some merchants require a credit card with a US billing address. I don’t have one, what can I do?
There are several things you can do:

- A) Use our Free Concierge Service: Let us buy your items for you at NO ADDITIONAL CHARGE !
. After you register, you can request an order form to instruct us on what to buy and from where.
. Send us the payment (Paypal/credit card/Wire transfer) (We will need to receive the full payment before we buy your item(s).)
. We order the item for you & provide your with Tracking information and notification when it arrives to us so you can chose to forward it to you or combine with other items.
Check out our recent purchases for our clients on Ebay.com : Ebay ID : VIABUY
..."

I looked up their ebay ratings by searching for Ebay ID : VIABUY , they seem quite legit and it seems that a lot of people are using their concierge service :D:D:D

is it possible to use it together with borderlinx service?

Why would you wanna do that ?

Viaddress offers both package forwarding AND a concierge service from all US merchants, including ebay US:
feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=viabuy

I don't think Borderlinx offer concierge service from Ebay US:
feedback.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewFeedback2&userid=borderlinx

Borderlinx shipping rates are more expensive than Viaddress, you can use the shipping calculators on their sites to compare.

borderlinx concierge has a limit of 10 items or USD$500 according to their website

To my knowledge, Viaddress concierge has no shopping limit but you can always ask them directly... their chat lines seem to be always online.

Just a quick check with people who bought electronics from overseas..

Do the stuff you guys bought work locally? IIRC the US uses different voltage from us.

For a large package, how safe is the package? I.E. will the stuff inside get damaged?

Lastly, thinking of buying a home entertainment system from Amazon, don't think this model is sold locally, does Borderlinx allow for shipping of speakers? I know vpost doesn't...

Borderlinx shipping rates are more expensive than Viaddress, you can use the shipping calculators on their sites to compare.

Do you care to justify that statement?

(All examples are using Standard service, I find that Borderlinx standard service is efficient enough that I never bother with Express)

Viaddress http://www.viaddress.com/cost-calculator.php
- 5lb US$36.67 + $4.95 (assuming I never sign up to any plan) = $41.62
- 10lb US$48.49 + $4.95 = $53.44

Borderlinx http://www.borderlinx.com/m/total-cost-calculator
- 5lb US$22.99
- 10lb US$33.87

Can share with us how you conclude that Borderlinx is more expensive than Viaddress?

yes, i also don't understand how did SGGreatimes conclude that viadress to be cheaper since the shipping calculator certainly didn't appear to be any cheaper.

Ask him/her how much was his/her viaddress shipping charges and what was the weight of the package for his/her Night Vision Binoculars purchase. And he/she was evasive about it.

Speakers no issues.
