Interesting thread that I can’t bear to chip in. As a parent who has a kid in UK studying his final year now. Those seniors in this thread are giving you valid and truthful advice. For medicine course in UK, regardless 5 or 6 years, at least $100k pa or more. If I were not mistaken, Cambridge’s medicine is a postgraduate programme and it is extremely competitive to get into their postgraduate programme. Let’s not discuss about Cambridge. General school fees is easily $60k+ and the housing rental is based on weekly and depends on where you stay. Luckily, due to Brexit. The Sterling pounds drops a bit and that is the only consolation. However, the stuffs in London is expensive. A 油條 costs £1.80 but their whisky is dirt cheap if you were to drink at home. Haa. So in general, to study a medicine course, you need to prepare at least $500k for a 5 years course. If it is 6 years course, believe you know how to calculate? If you are keen, be prepared to take UKCat or BMat exams in Nov when you are in JC2. I have limited info in regards to immigration for UK. Just to add, our MOH will be revising again the numbers of overseas uni accredited in next few years. Observations has been made that they have been scaling down very much on the PEG grants in last 5 years. Wishing you all the best.

Interested in medicine or business

Medicine can forget USA and Canada.
First of all they are graduate degree. You need to finish a 4 yr pre med then apply. Even if u do get in get ready to study over 6 yrs.
On top of that most USA uni accepts a handful of international students meaning in high GPA no deal. I had friend who had done 4 Bach degree and still didn’t get into med school in USA. And oh he only trying for state uni not top rank ones. His GPA is above 3.5

Canada even worst most uni does not even admit international students into their program. Only 1 or 2 uni if I remember

Business degree, not STEM loads of ang mo wanna doing that. No hope of staying..

For medical schools, the fees for international students in Ireland is one of the most affordable. Aiyo... If TS is indeed keen on medicine, she should have this information already.

Decades ago, when my peers at 16 (after O levels) who were keen to do medicine, they had done their research on backup plans where to attend medical schools should they fail to get admission into NUS. That time got no Google.

Thanks man you seem to be the only person who isn’t judgmental and attacking me on this thread I posted. Yeah I am sort of lost and I have no real idea about what I want to study, but in terms of country, I’m not lost, any Anglophone or even English-prevalent country will do. Also note: I have cousins in UK and US, does that help immigration in any way?
