Link your WeChat account with a Singapore credit Card. Carry out real name authentification with your Singapore passport.

After that, ask your friends with WeChat wallet to transfer money to you. That may well work (but no guarantee).

There's still some of these common situations which these solutions still doesn't solve, and these articles always quietly fail to mention:

1. doesnt allow payment to personal Wechat QR (street vendors, some taxi drivers)
2. if the vendor or seller wants to refund you but unable to “原路退回" to your card

Another unfortunate limitation is unable to "拼单" and trf $$ to other ppl. Common to find shoppers hang around check-outs to find other shopper to merge orders to hit minimum purchase for bigger promos

We're never going to get the full functionaility like the Chinese definitely, but at least we have more options.

Yes, and AliPay's TourPass.

Tour Pass i remember is 5% markup. If using normal bank cc to buy, is another 3.5% Fx fees
total almost +9%

There was a TourPass promotion during which there were no fees. In any case, I have dropped TourPass because I have spent the funds within, the promotion has ended and I quit Alipay altogether.

There is this app called 云闪付，which is basically UnionPay. Has anyone tried using it?

In guizhou, their transport network doesn’t accept Alipay or WeChat QR travel mode, so I was advised to use this app. But in the end, the helpful train cso helped me to download their local transport app via WeChat.

Can it be use to buy show/event tickets etc in China

I can see the show I want to go on my wechat showing the price and number of seats left but never try booking through wechat

Yes, everybody else except the China Chinese is on International version.

I have used WeChat pay to book and pay deposit for theme restaurants like 宫宴 through their mini programme. Is this what you’re referring to? On 大麦 and 票多多, payment can be paid via Alipay and WeChat.

u mean the unionpay app not working? what is their local transport app?

There is no universal transport app. Each city has its own.
