Pull down to 33. Taking that out will be around 50 only. Not to mentioned serious cases of arthritis. Nowadays eating not so good folks still live to 60-80 with lousy quality of life. If eating a scientific balanced diet with adequate exercise, good life quality can be expected. A lot of these fancy name diet are just fantasies rather than facts.

No, humans did not live long in the Paleolithic age; the average life expectancy was only about 33 years, largely due to high infant mortality and early deaths from disease, malnutrition, and injury. However, this average reflects the entire population at birth, and individuals who survived childhood could live into their 40s, 50s, or even 60s, provided they avoided common threats.
You have to factor in the harsh environments back then. And Sanitation too.
Imagine getting seriously injured while hunting. Can only hope to recover.

It's totally different now. Medical advancements help tremendously. Getting into car accidents? Chances of survival are high if not immediate death.

We live longer. But not necessarily healthier.

Yes I saw alot of advert recently on this Hume band looks interesting, but now I am on the lookout for clinical trials for wearing Continuous Ketones Device as there are currently some being tested in USA i think.
If there is one, I don't mind to get my body into nutrition ketosis once more and they seems to be beneficial with cognitive function which is also my current interest.

let me share the screen shot of yesterday so you can have an idea what it is like . ( scroll right for the second photo ).

The Latency last night is only 17 mins is correct , checked with my Garmin because I did not do any reading in bed.
That was the negative part which I spoke about where the tracking of when you actually start your sleep was not very good compared with Garmin if you have a habit like me, resting and reading in bed before sleeping.

ps you could manually adjust the start of your sleep time .

your sleep data looking good, r u getting this amount of sleep consistently?

sleep score ranges between 83-96 most of the time , if I take any coffee after 1 pm definitely will affect my sleep quality,( than score can dropped to 70) unless I take decaf coffee.

The highest score I have achieve was 99 out of a maximum of 100.

Photo below

I am a T2D since 2000 and now in remission, it is not only what we eat, it is the whole package which includes your sleep quality ( that also affect your cognitive function and prevention or slowing down of mental issue like Dementia etc) , physical activity and not forgetting Stress .

I like that the Oura ring give an idea of your stress level thru out the day/

The methodology of how paleolithic diet macro and micro nutrients have been estimated was questioned by scientists for quite a while. Other than hunting and gathering in a very harsh environment where food supply are more scarce and inconsistent, we do not really know how they eat. Or, is there a standard version of their diet? It is basically theoretical and debatableanr likely a starvation and inadequate diet.

Yes, that may be true too

But I think many of us would agree that we are living in an age of "excesses" and many of our modern diseases stem from these excesses

Anyway, from anthropologist research, they found that pre-agriculture humans were taller, bigger and had bigger brain capacities

Pre-Agriculture (Hunter-Gatherer Societies)

  • Lifestyle: Nomadic, moving with food sources, and less hierarchical.

  • Health: Generally higher nutritional intake and fewer degenerative conditions.

  • Physicality: People tended to be taller, with less evidence of bone damage from routine physical stress.

  • Diet: A diverse diet of wild plants and animals, leading to better overall nutrition.
Post-Agriculture (Agricultural Societies)

  • Lifestyle:
Sedentary living in permanent settlements, leading to larger and more densely packed populations.

  • Health:
Increased rates of malnutrition (e.g., enamel defects), anemia, and infectious diseases.

  • Physicality:
A decrease in average height due to poorer nutrition and harder physical labor.

  • Diet:
A more limited and less varied diet, often heavily reliant on fewer staple crops.

  • Social Structure:
The development of private property, increased social stratification, and more organized conflict.

  • Environmental Impact:
Significant and rapid environmental changes due to new modes of subsistence and settlement.

If you think hunting, gathering in a harsh environment is easy, try to visualize trekking through Amazon rainforest with only a spear and compass.

It's not theoretical. You can know what they ate by analysing the fossils remains of early humans. This is science.

What's a scientific balanced diet? Is it proven by science?

Paleolithic exercise routine is another big fantasy.

Analysing the stomach content of a fresh cadavar to give you clues already have its challenges and limitations let alone a fossil.

Even these shaky evidence are based on RDA of macro and micro nutrients as reference. Okinawa and Mediterranean diet have quite good evidence. Do some reading. Even general advice like eat in moderation and variety are way safer.

I can give you some key words.

stable isotopes testing of nitrogen in early humans

Please dun read fairy tales. I dunno what good evidence can you get from the diets you mentioned.

They are looking at the bones plus they already know how these folks live - they follow the animal herds

Anyway, we do have evidence of "paleo" diets by looking at certain tribes in Africa - those on the "ancestral" diets do not have modern diseases; but the same folks who follow a western diet did

That kind of rules out genetics doesn't it?

Even in China, there's growing evidence that the increased consumption of western diets have led to a huge increase in diseases previously not present like diabetes, CHD etc

If consumption of a highly processed diet is toxic over the long run, do we still want to eat that in "moderation"?

Call me KS, I rather not

Anyway, who said our diet doesn't have variety just because we don't eat cai png? :censored:

I see. Keto don't need high fats.

Oats are bad? I think those steel cut oats are suppose to be good? Maybe you are talking about instant oat?
Oats, whether steel-cut or rolled, will spike your blood sugar and contribute to insulin resistance. Avoiding these spikes is crucial for maintaining metabolic health. Anyone who tells you that oats do not spike blood sugar is either misinformed or not being truthful.

Short answer is that it works. True story, I went from having a pot belly to being six-pack ripped, just from getting on a keto diet for half a year.

But bear in mind, you can look good on the outside, but who knows what's going on in your insides. It has been said by some doctors that a Keto diet is good in the short-term to "reset your body" so to speak, but may have negative consequences if sustained for the long term.

I have reintroduced some carbs into my diet and now I am less ripped (6 pack down to 4 pack) but the trade-off in risk reduction is worthwhile in my opinion.

I highly recommend a keto diet for BBFAs trying to slim down, but think of it as a reset, not as a permanent lifestyle change.

Agreed. Oats are the biggest fukking scam "health food" imo. Was on oats for years thinking I was eating healthy and the belly just wouldn't go away. Only later on did I realize these oats were practically converting to sugar within my body.

Btw oats are sprayed with glyphosate as part of the harvesting process. The amounts might be really low, but if I were you I wouldn't want to ingest even tiny bits of poison into my body if I had a choice.

Tried keto for 3mths. Diet of meat, fish, eggs, brocolli/cauliflower and avocado only. Nothing else.
Lost weight fast. Dropped from 90kg to 70kg in 3 months. Poo became a slimy goo. Developed body odor. Pretty much hungry all the time.

The effects didn't last. Rebounded back to the original 90kg about a year after going back to regular diet. Would not recommed, because hungry all the time.

hungry because you didn't consume 70-80% fats per meal. the keto diet satiated you once you consume more fats than proteins.

Eggs and avocados can still be relatively high in omega-6.

Good eating is ultimately about common sense. Avoid foods that spike insulin or are loaded with omega-6, and your body will naturally function better.
