EXAMPLE(by no means represents the real situation and there are many other methods of changing the boundry):
The GRC in question got 4 main areas. A,B,C,D
Lets say each area only 10 people live in them

the results of GE 2011 is
ruling/opp
A: 7/3
B: 6/4
C: 3/7
D: 6/4
Total = 22/18
ruling won the GRC

For GE 2015 the predication is
ruling/opp
A: 6/4
B: 6/4
C: 1/9
D: 6/4
Total = 19/21
OMFG opp would win the whole GRC

To cut loses, the ruling cut away area C into a SMC
ruling/opp
A: 6/4
B: 6/4
D: 6/4
Total = 18/12
ruling would win the GRC (3 seats)
C: 1/9
opp would only win the SMC (only 1 seat)
