wat software boost? is it those speedometer windows 7 widget appear on the left and right? make your PC look like racing car so satki

Lol. I have that too, but that's not the software booster. I'm using Cloud System Booster for my software booster.

Just got myself a Intel 520 240GB... free shipping from Amazon
Intel 520 Series Solid-State Drive 240 GB

Looks nice. I was considering getting that as my SSD. How much did you pay for it?

Plextor is much more famous brand and Hawk is a local brand and quite new one. Performance wise both should be ok (I dont have Plextor though). So it is your call, as to what is your consideration in buying an SSD is and go for that

Well, thank you so much for your time to explain to me!
See you^^ :)

Read on other thread title: what ssd to get. You'll have a general idea.
Best is buy what you can afford and be happy for what you buy.

I have a 13" and a 15" MBP mid 2012. Was thinking of upgrading the hard disk to SSD.

Either Crucial M500 960GB or Samsung 840 EVO 1TB.

Anyone knows which is better and how much does it cost?

Hello xiaobaoge,

In my suggestion you should go for strontium hawk SSD drives. it is reliable and equipped with 19nm Multi-Level Cell (MLC) NAND Flash for fast performance. This SSD drive available in 2 storage capacity:

1. 120GB HAWK SSD Drive is available in US$100
2. 240GB HAWK SSD Drive is available in US$200

Hi alice9,

Have a good solution of your query; Suggest your brother to go for strontium HAWK SSD drive to upgrade his system with SSD drive. The HAWK SSD drive supports SATA I/ II/ III Interface without any issue and it comes in very affordable prices as well in two storage category.. choose according to your requirement:

1. 120GB HAWK SSD Drive is available in US$100
2. 240GB HAWK SSD Drive is available in US$200

Can go to amazon and check... crucial m500 cant be shipped to sg. But there was a drop in price of $499 few days ago. If not, evo 1tb is also a good choice, and can be shipped to SG, though you will kena GST.

Samsung evo 1tb is priced at US$599, and crucial m500 960gb is priced at $539. From this graph, it shows that samsung evo 1tb is very near to its lowest price point.

And lastly, do not get strotium ssd since they rebrand oem ssd and they nvr write their own firmware. Any problems, they will have to ask the oem makers to help solve it. Crucial and samsung both manafacture their own ssd and write the firmware themselves. So, it will be more stable.

Addamsg must be receiving like XX% commission for every purchase of the ssd via online stores.

I do see majority of the posts here as some sort of advertisement or promotion. so why blame him alone... :vijayadmin:

If the product is good, we should admit and appreciate it. thats all.
But deliberate advertisement also should be avoided

Hi addamsg,

Thanks for the recommendation but the capacity is too low to fit my usage. I am looking at +/- 1TB. Which either the M500 @960GB or Evo 1TB will be good.

Hi shadow84,

Thanks for the recommendation, I was also thinking do they sell locally? If they charge GST 7%, then the price might be close to the local? I was also wondering the warranty issue if I buy it online from overseas. May be troublesome to send it back if there is any issue?
