We've certainly come a long way from Nokia's (or maybe Steven Lim's?) 'banana phone'. The 'banana phone' of today, the LG Flex 2, not only curves like a banana, but is able to straighten out its thoughts when needed.
An engineering marvel it is, indeed, because not only must the screen be malleable enough to curve and straighten, but the battery and other internal components must be flexible enough too.
In an era where smartphone makers like HTC and Sony struggle to include Optical Image Stabilisation in their phone, LG has one-upped the with OIS+, which really makes for great photos even if you don't have really steady hands. And that 5.5" gorgeous Full HD IPS display is much akin to those $4k televisions out there--curved so that you get a really immersive view. And it costs just a fraction of it!
Oh, and yes, that self-healing finish. What use is a gorgeous Flamenco Red phone when all it does is look pretty? The G Flex 2 agrees wholeheartedly, which is why it can self-heal so quickly on its back, almost like Wolverine.
The G Flex 2 seems built to last. Having a curved screen, I think the chance of the screen breaking upon landing on a flat surface is rather slim. Have we found a successor to the venerable Nokia 3310? Could this be 'the' phone?
Well, certainly not if it can't withstand the weight of a grown man. Thus, I think it'll take the weight of 70 to 80kg, when spread over two buttocks. Given that the weights in the video seem to be the size of one buttock, I'd say the LG G Flex 2 can take about 35 to 40kg of those weights. Officially, of course, it's 25kg but I'm sure it can take a little bit more
Overall, what the flex can the G Flex 2 do? Well, it obviously can make a grown man cry, because never have we seen a phone that's so tough, so flexible, so adaptable, in the past fifteen years since the Nokia 3310 was released.
