We have our traditional hawker foods which our forefathers ate. Nice or not is subjective, though I would say that most are not.
And there are 3 distinct styles of cooking viz, Indian. Malay and Chinese although the last one is more of a fuson form of cooking than truly Chinese..
Then we have the cuisines of other countries. For the longest time, we had western food...authentic or not is not a question that should be asked. At the lowest end are the fast foods....all Western, such as McD, BK, KFC, TFC. At the higher end are the French and Italian restaurants where food is eaten with wine, not Coke.
At many food courts, you can also find Japanese/Korean cuisine cooked by a non-Japanese/non-Koreans but if you want the real deal, there are some pretty good Japanese restaurants around which the Japanese community patronise, where the chef is from Japan.
Thai food like Soi 19, Vietnamese food, even Filipino food and Burmese food can be found if you know where to find them.
How come you need to think about what to eat? Saying "Sg food is sian" is a whole world of a difference from saying "Food in Sg is sian".
