Please lah, talk so much about PCIe 4.0 when it offers no real advantages in real world use at this point of time.

When PCIe 4.0 debuted in POWER hardware more than one year before AMD introduced it to x64 hardware, nobody made a squeak about it.

Now people on x64 are boasting about having PCIe 4 compatibility more than one year late into the game, when there aren't any real hardware out there to fully exploit the doubled bandwidth and speeds.

All brainwashed by marketing.

Pcie4 is a must have feature these days?

same goes for RTX Ray Tracing...

ppl will rather (future proof) go for a mb with pcie4 rather than a pcie3... who knows 2-3yrs down the road when pcie4 nvme cost as cheap as pcie3 and new gen GPU comes with pcie4... unless u r changing mb evey 1-2yrs...

Futureproof is nonsense. And in this case, it's not even futureproofing.

PCIe 4.0 had more than one year to catch on when it was implemented on POWER hardware. If no hardware vendor thought to create PCIe 4.0 devices (especially PCIe 4.0 NVMe SSDs, which will be extremely relevant for the kind of environments POWER hardware is used in) during that entire period, you seriously think they are going to bother with it now, especially when the official specs for PCIE 5.0 have been published in January this year?

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/PCI_Express#PCI_Express_4.0

PCI-SIG officially announced the release of the final PCI Express 4.0 specification on June 8, 2017.
AMD announced on 9 January 2019 their upcoming X570 chipset will support PCIe 4.0.

On 29 May 2019, PCI-SIG officially announced the release of the final PCI-Express 5.0 specification.
u very sure pcie5 chipset will be out on mb within next 2yrs? even so, u still need a few yrs for pcie5 devices price to be affordable. that will be 4-6yrs down the road... time for a new PC...

PCIe 4.0 or PCIe 5.0 means nothing if the controller is not doing any tangible bandwidth benefit in real life performance against PCIe 3.0, especially in the random read/write domain.

Only when SSD controller lifted the performance bar above meaningful, sorry, I can't process a damn about PCIe 4.0/5.0.

Actually for gaming now, there is almost virtually very little or negligible difference between both camps now as far as frame rates are concerned. And the AMD is a far far better investment over the long run. I don't see any benefit of having an Intel over the AMD anymore after the Ryzen 3000 series. And I seriously hope the 4000 series will nail Intel to the coffin.

Has been hearing that since 486 days. \think that's at lease 20 years already. \by this time, AMD do not even have their own plant in manufacturing chips anymore. Also in PC market, they continue to be x86 emulation under licensing of Intel.

You feel faster on benchmark is partially due to fast GPU which Intel is yet to catch up. In CPU area, don't think AMD can beat Intel. 7nm or 14nm is just part of the technology. If AMD is as good, at lease in term of pricing they should be on par at this time.

Samsung Galaxy Book S incoming with Snapdragon 855 and Windows 10
https://www.hardwarezone.com.sg/tec...alaxy-book-s-notebook-qualcomm-snapdragon-cx8

Wait and see how this will tank.
ARM on Windows Round 2.

No PCIe or SATA interface. Storage on MicroSD interface only. Is not a 855 SD.

https://www.theverge.com/circuitbre...m-laptop-battery-life-23-hours-unpacked-event

"Samsung just announced the Galaxy Book S, a new ultralight laptop powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 8cx processor, onstage at its Unpacked event. It looks a little less like a Surface Laptop than we originally thought when we first saw the leaks, but it’s not far off. More importantly, with that Qualcomm processor it will perform much differently: with much longer battery life, but much less horsepower."

Display: 13.3’’ FHD TFT (16:9) Touch: 10-point multi-touch screen
Dimensions: 305.2 x 203.2 x 6.2-11.8 mm, 0.96 kg
Processor: Qualcomm Snapdragon 8cx, 7nm 64-bit Octa-core processor (Max. 2.84 GHz + 1.8GHz)
RAM: Memory 8GB RAM (LPDDR4X),
Storage: 256 / 512GB+ microSD slot (up to 1TB)
Camera: 720p HD
Battery: 42Wh, up to 23 hours video playback
Other features: Gigabit LTE, Bluetooth 5.0, fingerprint sensor, Dolby Atmos, Windows Hello support

Emulate? Sure this is the right term to use on AMD?

Reasons I am keeping my Intel

- Easier to Hackintosh
- Already have CPU+Motherboard

Otherwise, I would have gone with Ryzen.

Usually I change platform every 3 years or when I find my GPU is starting to bottleneck. I don't care much for anything else. So at that time, I'll choose the best platform. If AMD, then so be it. Gaming is LIFE.

I still think anything more than 8 core is a waste right now unless you're using your rig for productivity work and video encoding which I totally don't. And I don't miss hyperthreading at all as it doesn't serve to be any much faster in games at least from my experience. The additional overclocking headroom from the 9700k and lesser heat makes it much more satisfying.

in the same way intel is emulating 64bit support on their processors

Is nothing to do with 32 or 64 bits. Is the instruction set. 64 bits is x64. As the code is cooy right. Other maker is either license it or go round the code with other instructions.
