Considering safety from human & natural disasters, cheap housing, car & monthly bills, good healthcare & working condition?

Is sg better?

Welcome all friendly advice! :)

Instead of villagers running away, why not chase the tyrants who under perform, overpaid, creating 10 times new problems while solving old problems away?

These alone, are in fact good investments conditions. However we do not want to negotiate with investors for better terms (higher tax, better compensation for local employees) in fact we allowed them to save even more by lax employment laws, supporting them with cheap labours, rape us throughly, inside out, upside down.:o

Housing & cost of living will take yrs to decrease.

Ironically, it was less than 1 decade ago, leaders pay, flats and cars cost a fraction of it is now.

somehow I like to put them as a group that grows tremendously, in fact, they did and still do.:o

There are many countries 100 times better than sg. But there is always 1 only and perpetual problem- Race/ born nationality/ colors.

For instance, do u see a full street of Italy, japanese or hongkies? If sg is reslly best of the best, why you dont see them rushing here? Most of the times, sg is attractive to only 3rd world countries and they are from 2 group of pple, richer citizens who are sick of their poor countries and the majority of the rest, I would describe, subtlety, economics refugees.

In the point of view of immigrants,
Rasict no matter how one might brush it off as insensible or irrational or childish, admit it or not, it exists in everybody. Its only a matter of how much or how little within you, depending on your upbringing, education or life experiences.

U can never throw a cat into a house full of dogs and u expect them to be in harmony with training them or give them time.

its never that easy to just choose a country, like how you choose a pair of nice shoes off the retsil shelves and imgrate to other country and expect full privilege of local borned citizen, full heart of acceptance from them.

I think previous poster makes some very broad generalizations which do not serve justice.

There are countries where integration is easier, there are countries where integration is pretty much impossible no matter how hard one tries.

I am speaking from my own experience here, having gone thru four immigration in last 22 years.

Regarding the original question:
Considering safety from human & natural disasters, cheap housing, car & monthly bills, good healthcare & working condition?

That exists in heaven.

On Earth you have to choose your priorities and what is more important. An example - consider that in one area you have very cheap housing and car bills, but every year you have a good chance to be hit by tornado. In another place you have to work your a$$ off to pay rent and for education (and most likely you need two incomes for that) and there is a chance devastating earthquake happens once every 100 years. Where would you go?

You should post this is EDMW sub forum. The responses there would probably be 10 times here... Regardless, I will give my 2 cents worth.

SG is a safe country with a decent living condition (the only natural "disaster" is flood, relatively "clean and non-corrupted" systems, stable political landscape, slowly evolving education system, relatively cheap food). These to me will be the pull factors why I'm staying put...

Now for the push factors. Ungracious behaviors from locals or foreigners. High living standards (cars and housings are ridiculously priced). What in the hell is a COE for??? My guess is to support the high paying ministers/politicians in the parliament who honestly is wayanging more than anything. 6.9 millions, WTF man? How many of these are really true blue SGrean who gets to vote?! In a country where we call home, we now become the minority... This is ridiculous. That's beside the point, this little island is already bursting with frustrated people, put in more people, it would probably explode in a pressure cooker style. :( Virtually no quality of life.

Weighing push and pull factors, I would jump at a chance of living overseas or at least give it a real good try.

Thanks for answering!

Apologies for not asking clearly, i meant weighing the factors before deciding. In reality, it ain't possible to have all.

Which country has the most?

Thanks for advising, I'll create a new thread.

I wanna see what's outside sg too, not just live on this cramped island. There's so much life to explore in other countries, places, cultures, food etc.

Why coop myself in sg with little view of the world? Maybe there are better places elsewhere, that's why migration's getting hype!

Which country has the most?

States.

The only country so far (with possible addition of Australia) where people in large numbers are willing to risk their lives to get in. Still, despite all the things after 9/11.

States gives everyone a choice (assuming that you are there legally) and 99% if what happens depends on you. You still need 1% of luck but for the rest you are pretty much on your own. And the matter and importance of choice becomes evident once you start to release what options are available for you and what were not available in previous/different countries.

However getting there at this moment, before immigration system change, is pretty much quite difficult. In short, right now you have three options:

1. Ge there as a highly skilled worker or researcher/artist, H1/O1 visas (latter on means that pretty much you need to be a worldwide recognised professor/artist), H1 is mostly for people with Master's degree in IT with relevant experience (>5 years). After number of years employer can apply to process Green Card for you.

2. Go there on a student on F1 visa, then on H1 - see above

3. Family migration - you must have american citizens as immediate family member - parents, spouse, kids.

Migration is getting the hype many years ago man... Just that with forums and social medias it's getting more visible. The reality is that SG is no longer the country it used to be. It's changed for the worse, since 2000... The influx of the foreigners, the non-listening/always on high horse government had destroyed the country.

I already missed my boat, now in mid thirties with kid, difficult to uproot liao. If you're still with the 20s, go man, just go... For a better quality of life.

Lol, mid thirties also can, but just need think much further down the road. If you're still going to have kids, find ways of giving birth to them in a foreign country where they practice birthright citizenship (ie USA), thus your children will be foreign citizens or at least having dual citizenship until their 22nd birthday (to get the sg baby bonuses, if you require them).

Spend few thousands now go foreign land and give birth, 22 years down the road, can probably start emigration processes based on your child (might take few years though). At least you wont be retiring in SG and your children will get the "better" life that you yearn.
