I was catching up with the old threads on tailor with the title "Where to tailor clothes =D" and it seemed that a new thread was not auto-created after Part 4 was full. So I hope we can continue the discussion here!

Wanted to get the ball rolling by sharing a recent commission I had with a relatively new tailor. Wanted a sports jacket that I could wear when I want to be slightly more dressed up. Decided on this Reda wool-linen fabric.

Nice roll. Where is this from?
Thanks! Got this from quite a new store called Three Buttons. Got recommended there by my friend recently and commissioned a few pieces to try him out. Pretty pleased so far. Interestingly he pushes for unlined jackets which really shows off the finishing and makes the jacket really wearable in sg's weather!

Ah, Dylan - his work seems promising so far. One of few young folks that actually practice the craft. Obligatory shoutout to Alex from The Cutting Room as well. Promising lads.

Guys, I've always been buying off-the-rack, G2000 type of office wear. But lately I'm intrigued and keen to pay more attention to what I'm wearing. I'm more of the roll-up-sleeves type of guy and generally feel uncomfortable with the sleeves down and buttoned. But, it's more because of the heat in Singapore.

So, I'm wondering if there are fabrics that would be cool to wear, and yet easy to iron (or less wrinkly)? Somehow I have this notion that these 2 don't go hand-in-hand. If so, perhaps you can recommend me some tailors who carry such fabric, please? I've read thru the recommendations here and there are quite a number that require appointments to be made before visiting. I don't want to waste my time and theirs, to go there and realise they don't have the fabric I want.

Hey guys..I'm looking at 2 shirts and 1 pant. Would a 400 bucks budget works for some decent material at Rossi or Dylan or meiko? Wanted CYC but they couldn't meet my deadline. Need it by next Sunday.

400 dollars for the three items will be a stretch at Meiko and Rossi (probably the lowest end stuff), Dylan, assuming Dylan and Sons will be impossible. Your tight deadline is impossible too unless you can convince them otherwise.

Meiko is like $3k for a suit and $200 for a shirt. Mr Chung, the master tailor does the measurements by himself. Very different from the other shops where it is an employee doing the measurements and serving you.

My bad - I thought it was 600 dollars. Even then it is a stretch.

Anyway, at 133 dollars apiece, maybe only the local makers can do it, or those that outsource overseas.

Alex from Cutting Room has 3 categories - made to measure, bespoke and artisan. Dylan has 2 categories. Interesting that pricing is based on workmanship rather then say CYC which based pricing on materials.

Mr Chung is first generation, while Alex and Dylan are 2nd generation. Perhaps Mr Chung takes a more classic approach while Alex and Dylan takes a more contemporary approach?

For shirts, most would, even the local big names. They are usually outsourced as there is quite an investment to make, so most would refrain from doing so because it is so costly. In my opinion, the suits are where the value proposition is for local tailors given that most reputable tailors make them in-house.

Anyway, those that you mentioned have local factories and make their stuff in-house. Rossi, CYC, and the likes have their own factories.

Tailors typically don't do construction themselves. They measure, possibly draft and/or cut, and hand finish.

The primary value add of a tailor is being able to deliver a garment that fits well compared to something purchased off the rack.

Any recommendations for where to tailor shirts for about $100 a piece? I haven't done any tailoring in the last 3 years so appreciate any recommendation.
