What do u usually choose? Straight cut? Slim cut? And also which brand?
I go for straight cut, but that's personal preference. it's up to you to decide what you prefer.

Most of the brands are fine, for eg Goldlion, Renoma etc. I usually go for Goldlion. Their material feels thicker.

It's interesting that you're bashing Aston Blake in your first post here.

They are highly over rated. I have suits and shirts made there and they are disappointing. The fittings are numerous, takes too long to finish and the details are wrong. For a tailor that claims to offer bespoke service, you are better off at Pimabs or Kingsman for my money.

I have the same difficulty as you when it comes to pants (Fat thighs).

Recently made my pants with them, according to them, the shops only do the measurements and pick of materials, they will place the order with the "factory" to get it done for it, so I don't think it really makes a difference which shop you to go.

I had mine done at raffles arcade, you can look for Jessica or Henry, both are very friendly and helpful.

Just my 2cents =)

Yes. CYC, Dylan and Son, Victor York, and more use double-stitching.

Real bespoke tailors use single-stitching.

You sounded experience...so I will presume u know to differentiate a single needle french seam (tailored shirt) as against a double stitching french seam (G2000 OTR shirt).

I had tried at raphael gabriel and had not been to other places since then...service quality is superb and the staffs are very friendly to provide sound advices too...

can check them out at Raphael Gabriel :: Tailor Made Shirts For Men (Singapore)

Anyone else tried them? I'm looking to tailor new shirts - I'm bui bui fat man build, so need tailor to help me do shirt that can fit my round frame. Last time I did in BKK 2 ply cotton, but these days no time/interest to go BKK liao. $89 for 2 ply egyptian cotton seems a really good deal.

Looking forward to more reviews about them, and if suitable for fat men.

Don't expect a good quality if you're paying 89 bucks for 2-ply Egyptian cotton. At least you'll need to pay 150 bucks for a decent one.

Why not you go and slim down first then get your shirts tailored?

WRONG. WRONG. WRONG.

The first picture is french seam while the second one is normal/regular seam. Both pics have nothing to do with single-needle v.s. double-needle stitching

A single-needle seam is equally stitched twice but with a flat felled seam.

i prefer double stitching to single because if i ever need fold up my sleeves, there is no excess cloth showing like:

(sorry koped the pics from somewhere in this thread)
