Have you tried his suits? How's his workmanship? Any idea what fabrics for suits he has?

I've not made any suits with them but have done shirts and pants.

So far I've always seen at least 1 customer getting their suit done over there when I'm at the shop.

Why don't you pop down and determine it yourself?

I highly doubt any fused suit is worth the money or is any good regardless of tailor though. At least 90% of fused suits in Singapore gets outsourced to Indonesia or some other cheap country.

You most likely won't get a pattern drawn for you, won't get any handwork and be lucky if it doesn't fall apart in 1 or 2 years with some wearing.

There's also a good chance that the fit will be off since the work is outsourced. You should request for them to let you see their workroom before deciding to blow that $500.

IMO you'd be better off sticking to RTW and saving money for a well-made piece that will last you for years provided you don't grow fatter.

They do have suits for show in their shop. Their place of manufacture is in Ubi.

Fused or canvassed, I've no idea. But I dout their cheapest line is only $500. =:p

1 detail means both collar or just 1 collar?

is slim cut considered a detail?
is curved back (for nicer tuck out) consider a detail?
French cuff considered a detail?

Curved back as in shirt darts?

Points above notwithstanding, oddly enough one of my earliest fused suits from Men's Wear (yes, the name, I know :s13:) has held up well for the past 2 years, with only the waist button thread coming loose from repeated fiddling. Most tellingly, I took the suit to Dylan as reference for an upcoming commission and he seemed decently impressed by the fit.

I should add that the cloth was a navy birdseye ("Zegna one, I tell you!" said the uncle :s13:) and I paid 500 for the entire suit. Recommendation for tailor came from Grand City - they'll pass you his contact if you start asking about pants and suits. Not a bad deal considering how it turned out. So point is, don't write fused suits off... perfectly fine to go cheap if it fits good, it'll look more expensive if you pull it off well.

Well, fit is always priority. Just that sometimes to find a good tailor who makes fused suits maybe more hassle than it is worth.

Have your suit been worn frequently or only once in a while?

Sounds fine to me. A jacket is suppose to cover your ass. If it doesn't it's too short but "fashion" seems to have made shorter jackets a little more acceptable nowadays.

I see. Do u happen to have the contact? Might pop down for a look. I just want a suit that fits well for the time being. Will buying RTW and bringing it to a good alterations tailor be a good option too? Anyway does Dylan do fused or canvassed?

Yeah definitely RTW for alteration is a good option and will turn out to be cheaper too, allowing you to increase your budget for that ideal bespoke purchase.

Im pretty sure Dylan does canvassed suits, at the price he charges, you should expect no less.

I won't be surprised if Dylan is also fused, especially when the sewing is outsourced.

I agree fit is the most important although we should also bear in mind that fit does not have to be at the compromise of canvassed or fused. I do own a few fused jackets too. I find it hard to believe a Zegna suit is $500 as the cloth (from Zegna) alone should cost $300-400. The market price of a fused Zegna suit today should be $1200 and up.

If indeed the cloth used in your Men Wear suit is Zegna, it is a very good deal.

I am under impression Dylan's suits are fused. I could be wrong though.

WOW.. That would be atrocious. I heard his suits start at 1100 and I can't believe people would charge that much for a fused product.

Hope someone can confirm it.
