For a budget of around $80-100 per shirt, your options are likely to be the more mass market tailors such Personality, Mens Tradition etc. Dylan, Iris, Kevin Seah and CYC are above this budget.

Agreed! And even then, CYC makes fused collar/cuffed shirts. Which makes me go  not sure about Dylan's shirts though.

What are your opinions of his work?

guys,

is it possible for 2 different pairs of pants (different material), with exact same measurements to be completely different fit when worn?

i just went to make 4 pairs of pants, at some neighbourhood tailor, i told them to follow the exact same measurements as 1 pair i owned (the fit is perfect).

then i went to collect just now (in a haste), then i just tried them on at home, the fit is horrendous.. so i immediately compared it with the pair i told them to follow, the length, width are 99% the same.

but when i wear the new ones, the ankle part is so long, (with so many stackings), and is damn flair.. how come ah?

Yes. This is as the pattern in which the pants is cut is different. I'm assuming that the trousers in which you asked to be replicated was not done by the same tailor.

This results in a different cut because the tailor does not have the pattern of the original trousers to be copied. She/he may also not possess the skill to perfectly copy the pattern of your original trousers.

Dylan's shirts have fused collars. They are serviceable but nothing fantastic. My first shirt with them is way too tight.

Yes definitely. That way he can copy the pattern of the original pants.

I see. Is it their house style? Seeing as the commissions he has are quite funky.

Among those you have tried, which tailor do you like? I like Kevin's quality but price wise..

But the pants are already made leh, still possible to alter to be exactly similar in terms of fit to the 'perfect' pair I want?

Similar maybe but it won't be exactly the same. This unless there is a lot of excess cloth in which the tailor can recut.

Oh okay, I do see some excess cloth at the bottom when I wear them. I think I'll just bring down everything and tell him to just alter accordingly

I just damn scared he can't do it..

I think Dylan does encourage his customers to go for a trimmer fit. I don't think it is fair to say then that it is their house style. The shirt I ot was way too tight. Perhaps I should have insisted he recut a new one for me, but I just didn't. Still not sure why :) maybe I don't like confrontation haha

Huh? If the excess cloth is at the hems, then the only thing that can be done is to lengthen the trousers. Are those trousers too short now?

In any case, the worst case scenario is just to write these trousers off and just never go back to this tailor.

Then it shouldn't be a problem. Good luck!

ok thanks..

to play safe, i'd just give the same pair of pants i asked them to mimick previously to them..

nv expect 2 pairs of pants to have the same measurements to be completely different fit when worn

Bro, wear your new pants to the tailor, so that he/she can take actual measurement to know where and how much to alter.

i was thinking instead of wearing the new pants, i should wear the pants i wanted them to be copied instead..

like that then he will know the 'fit' i want..

U should be wearing the pants u wanted the first time u went to the tailor, so that he/she can use that as reference to take actual measurement. Now that u want to alter, it is better to wear the new pants.
