4k for MBA? Where and how to get it?

neanea, see this post. hai... 4k how i wish but my not sme.

I am a current student ,Jan 10 semester. I appreciate the efforts the sch puts in, in the alumni activity. The sch arranged an image presentation workshop just for my cohort, before the start . As I enrolled early, I was invited to all the alumni activities before the start of the class. So far, I like what I see.

Having said that, the fees is a steal for me, as I am lucky to be awarded the SPRING Singapore scholarship , so just have to pay around 4k plus for the entire course. So no complains about it. If you are working in SME, you can try applying for the scholarship to reduce your cost.

My cohort around 60 plus students ( according to the director) . My class around 30 pple, tink mostly mid thirties .
They have this mentorship programme and a strong career services portal which I tink might be useful if one wants to change career. Not for me though, as I will be bonded to my company .

You can PM me if you need more info.

What you wish to know?

i have decent experience in my field, i think i take up a general MBA and this 2 MBA is on top of my list.

intially i perfer Strathclyde MBA but i have not been to their information session yet so do not have detail informations about the MBA. But one thing for sure, they have weekly classes. So confirm affect my after office hours work discussion.

any idea of YMCA Strathclyde study facilities? any library or study room?

University of Adelaide is Aust Top 8 and i like the fact that theirs are intensive classes for 3 days for 1 module. so i do not have to rush for classes that often.

which one leh :p

I had been to the Strathclyde MBA preview twice. Had not been introduced to the library or study facilities though... If i did not remember wrongly the actual lessons and classes are also intensive in nature. The weekly thing are mostly tutorials... But again, please get more info from the Strathclyde guys here regarding this. I was drawn to this course due to its curriculum and course contents that interest me in the beginning but after comparing with its peers LUMS and MBS, I started to have 2nd thoughts...

I did my MPM with fellow MBA students of UoA. The MBA modules are same like ours and comes in intensive blocks. A lot of group meet ups and discussions after that though... The approach of UoA was to personalize the course according to each individual's situation at work and hence, students tend to pick up the necessary theories and skill set very fast. Other than the Go8 grouping for UoA, to be frank UoA itself is not exactly well known for its business school so I am not sure how would that affects your eventual decision.

If you need to have predictable timetables, probably UoA MBA would suits you. Else, Strathclyde would seems to be a better choice. As for my personal choice, I chose neither. I am going for LUMS next year. ;)

Strathclyde MBA in YMCA does not have a library. There is a small research room with some textbooks and past-year projects.

Are you thinking to study in germany? There are more lots of MBA which cost as little as 500 euros per sem in Germany.

Im thinking to go over germany to study. Went geothe institute to enquire and apparently is not that easy as my degree is not from local uni. My results are not that fantastic too but still i will apply for 2011 intake..

Five Star:s12:

  • University of Adelaide University of Adelaide Business School Advanced MBA
  • Deakin University Deakin Business School MBA
  • Deakin University Deakin Business School International MBA
  • Griffith University Griffith Business School MBA
  • Griffith University Griffith Business School International MBA
  • University of Melbourne Melbourne Business School MBA

  • University of Queensland UQ Business School MBA
  • University of South Australia International Graduate School of Business MBA

I'm doubtful as to whether non-australian employers would view deakin, griffith and uni of south australia as 5 star programmes

Really depends on the individual... Strathclyde provides all textbooks you will need. It provides access to journals and research articles online as well. You basically will never need to use the resource room at all.

The only reason i use it is for group discussions, and even then we never refer to the books there at all. Everything you need is either online at their intranet, or in the textbooks.

Some mbas I know don't even give you proper textbooks, but just binders. Strathclyde gives you their own textbooks, together with external textbooks that are used as standard in business studies.

Education is an area where good is never cheap
You pay for what you get.

You want outstanding profs, outstanding network, outstanding facilitites, then pay for it. If you are able to get into a good program, these costs normally pay back by itself anyways.

I'm currently doing my MBA under the University of Western Australia at PSB Academy (Tiong Bahru).

It's about $35k++ now and is regarded as a 5 star Australian MBA uni. It's a part time course with pretty good Australian Lecturers coming down. Workload is managable and you can complete it in 1 1/2 years if you rush. I'm taking my time so total time for me to complete it is 3 years.

Concepts are pretty much the same for all MBA's, what counts is the networking as well as how much practical experience you get out of it.

In my MBA class, i've got classmates from the aerospace industry, telcos, civil service, GM's of luxury brands, SME owners.

Lancaster University Management School - Global MBA

Anyone have first hand experience or second hand experience on this MBA?
I have attended the preview session and it was quite interesting. But my only concern is about the local service provider.

For Govt Sector, I hear they only recong full time MBA for career advancement but they still pay you base on your 2nd upp range of salary.

But why you want a MBA?
