Which MBA?

Heriot Watt MBA used to be offered under EASB. I remembered visiting the school to find out more enquiries about it.

Now they offer it directly online... and anyway, Heriot Watt MBA program back then do not need a tuition provider as you can sign up and do it on your own...

I think the bigger challenge through such route might be taking the exam... and completing the assignments...


Personally, I have seen some of my recent classmates who come back to school after working in industry for a while may struggle in essay writing especially if it is their first semester ...


Of course, these challenges may not apply to everyone...

I'm an NTU MSc postgraduate and currently taking the CU MBA in Global Business and have completed a few modules. I've always wondered how a business operates and what kind of thought processes management use when making decisions.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, PSB Academy was initially delivering the modules online. We're back to having on-campus classes now, although the option to attend classes online is still available.

In my experience so far, the lecturers are part-time and focus on giving lectures while augmenting with their own corporate experience - lacking in facilitating student sharing and discussions expected in "traditional" MBA sessions.
It could be difficult since social distancing is still required in class and some students do take the option to attend classes online.

Assignments have mostly been individual academic/business report writing. Again, COVID-19 may be a reason for this.

I'm considering to withdraw from the program.
I feel that it doesn't meet my expectations and I didn't have a plan of action - I don't know how I'd use the MBA to help me in achieving my career goals and aspirations.

It may be useful to know that there are a few fall-back awards for this program:

• 60 credits - Postgraduate Certificate
• 120 credits - Postgraduate Diploma
• 180 credits - Master of Business Administration

Was considering between Birmingham,Strathclyde and Manchester.

Manchester being the most expensive out of the 3. Strathclyde and Birmingham is more affordable at 37k.

Tuition fee is one matter but If I ever decide to embark on another MBA, I would look closer at the university's standing, program quality, lecturer and classmates' profiles.

It would also be useful to engage the school to find out about how they deliver the program and to request sit in one of the lessons to get a feel of things - if possible.

While good schools and programs are selective in admitting students, we should also be selective in choosing a suitable program for ourselves.

I graduated from ESSEC. It is a pretty good school with good standing as well. Worth considering!

Isn't MBA all about branding and prestige?
Why not look up some of the alumni's profile and see where this MBA got them to.
And see which firms do the school's career services team up with.

I recalled SIT teaming up with Big 4 firms when they first stated, and this gave many SIT undergrads the opportunity to get a priority offer over the 3 local uni undergrads.

why not get a specialised msc like finance or analytics?

but still msc in sg is expensive

They only offer msc in management
is their msc in management = MBA? becos the core module look very similar

Kinda doesn't make sense financially. Top up abit can try smu or nus one. Better than wasting that 25k

NUS/NTU one is around $39k for MSC, MBA is $65k
UCD Kaplan is only 23k
so your "top up a bit" is 18k...is not really "a bit"

Can I ask is AACSB accreditation matter for MSc? only heard it work for MBA

..I also used to think like u. Slowly farm la. Need the cert brand name la tbh.

Now days MBA kinda useless u wanna break into high finance, consulting , good MNCs.

MSc on the other hand like those 1 year one, usually are subsidised, dependin on which area u wanna get into. Like analytics ntu about 30k+.

Ain't u the one taking care of Ur aged parents. Can consider part time stuff also..
Tbh I have a undergrad biz degee. Kinda useless, as u are not learning much stuff. Unless u get into like specialised fields such as finance, accounting etc.

If u are looking at general jobs like marketing, don't even need MBA.

shld I choose a MBA base on the uni ranking overall or focus on the accredition

if a sch ranking is high but their business sch is practically unranked and not accredited?

or shld I choose a uni that ranking is 188, but is triple crown accredited?
