Can I conclude that "University of Birmingham MBA" by AEC is ok since it is double accreditation?

Juz a quick question. Im holding a private uk hons degree 2:1 (0.5 yr exp after graduated + 4 yr exp post Poly experience) and aged 27.

Would I be able to gain entry to the course or not?

I will try to check with the school person in-charge for more info, but I would appreciate if anyone here can shed some light to me.

i don't know what kind of 4 yrs working experience do you have but must be of some sort of management or supervisory work. pls refer to below criteria which i copied from the website.

what priviate uk degree and course did you graduate from?

Entry Requirements
•At least 24 years of age
•A Bachelor's degree or equivalent with a minimum of 3 years of relevant management/supervisory experience; or
•A recognized Professional Qualification with 8 years relevant management/supervisory experience
•Proficiency in English is essential
•GMAT is not required although a score above 550 will be an advantage
No exemptions will be granted. However, ACCA graduates or equivalent have an option to replace the core accounting module with an additional elective.

"Strict" is very relative. Generally speaking, if you have a bachelor degree, a decent GMAT and good essay writing skills, it is not that difficult to enter Insead.

i heard that my friend said that candidate must have high GMAT score to get into insead, is it true?

High GMAT (say 720+) is important when the undergrad GPA is low or the under grad uni is not famous. Converse is true.

For the really difficult-to-get-in MBA schools, both a high GMAT and a high GPA may not get you in.

Strathclyde MBA

Anyone has any info on Quality of Strathclyde MBA and YMCA's admin support?

I would like to apply for the school but I have some concerns...

Looking through the application and emails, I always see typos and minor errors here and there... I hope the current students do not face major issues with YMCA...

Reconsider the Risk

:s31:YMCA has minimal experience in managing Postgraduate programs, most of their courses are languages and diplomas. its a Good MBA program but the provider (YMCA) might be a concern and in MBA, support is paramount, especially if u want to clear the thesis .. so be mindful.

go for more established ones like Manchester, Louisville , INSEAD or State Uni of New York if you are looking for an internationally recognized and accredited programs.

It's really surprising to see such comments appearing in the forum again after so long. Perhaps the info below will clear the air and provide some latest updates.

I've enquired about the Strathclyde MBA a few months back and have personally gone down to YMCA to speak to Tricia and Kelvin. Both are very professional and they assured me that the teething issues encountered during the transition last year have been resolved. It was fortunate that there was a class going on that evening and I managed to speak with a few students. They mentioned that they are happy with the administrative coordination in YMCA and also said that the facilities and location of YMCA are better than the previous provider.

Despite all these good comments, I'm unable to embark on this MBA due to my overwhelming work schedule. Nevertheless, I will continue to keep the Strathclyde MBA, which is recognised internationally with triple-accreditation, in the top of my mind.

Cheers. :)

Hi starbugs,

I am presuming based on the above that you might be a student/grad from Insead.
Currently I am looking into masters or mba programs. I am a recent graduate from SIM-UOL banking and finance, graduated last yr,my working experience so far was in a top investment bank, but i have realised that my area of interest lies in organisation development, corporate social responsibility( CSR) etc.
I have been doing my homework on this and i am currently looking around for relevant job opportunities in the field that i am keen to work in.

A quick question here, I am interested in the mba program offered by Insead,u mentioned about the high GMAT,bachelor deg and essay writing, what about work experience? Are there students admitted to Insead with about a yr's worth of work experience with the above criteria u have mentioned?

Thank You.
