for those less inclined, chicago is up there with harvard
so how do you measure nus to harvard?
unless i am missing something, they dont exactly play in the same league and they certainly dont attract the same crowd / breed / calibre that applies to enter MBA schools

Is FI mean Finance Inducty? If yes, are you selling Insurance as a FA Rep?

How does a MBA will broaden your scope of work?

Why do you needs a MBA in the 1st place?

@delay : yesh i know that chicago vs nus is a pale comparison..networking potential is blown outta the water by chicago.. but the fees are jus .. well beyond me :) lol but content wise besides the networking.. and maybe hirability between the two.. in a singapore job context.. cause i feel NUS MBA vs Chicago while applying for a job here wouldnt be such a big diff.. esp if you thinking of moving within the FI or going into another industry.. but den the chicago networking potential would help there.. so hmm...??

@kyo: haha my deg is specialized in one asset class .. MBA Finance/general would help me gain more in terms of my knowledge...and errr FI not in insurance or FA.. im on the buy side

When you apply for jobs here, you will apply for vastly different jobs with the MBA you get because the ones that do not care if you have a good mba or one from a degree mill, is probably not a company you will care to apply to. (and if you do, you have to question your need for the mba in your career.... not everyone needs it and not everyone should waste money on it)

Chicago open doors to Tier one banks such as Goldman and indutries such as hedge funds and IB

NUS open doors to Tier 3 banks such as DBS

I quote a managing partner in one of the big 3 management consulting firms: if you are able to enter a good mba school, the exit career path usually pays for the school fees eventually.

i tend to agree and i have forsaken company sponsorship for precisely that reason. The whole idea of opening up opportunities but not being able to make full use of them as and when it comes just seem to defeat the whole purpose of the entire exercise. For some, flexibility to join other companies or move into another industries is precisely the reason why some folks forsake 2 years of their career for the MBA.

What doors does a normal MBA open?

Or don't waste time on it?

You mean the MBA course fees that is around 20K or MBA that can help you get 20K salary job?

If you can go for MBA, you must be at least a degree/Dip holder & simple things you cannot search for yourself & always ask for spoon feed. (^^")

Interested to know how many of your careers advanced or improved after having an MBA?

The Turning Point Education Institute?

Anyone heard of The Turning Point Education Institute? Recently got a call from one of their partners, Uniconnect Consultants Pte Ltd, saying that I'm eligible to apply for their MBA even though I'm only holding a Diploma in Information Technology. I went to meet their partner and is interested in their MBA in Asset Management. Just wondering should I go for this MBA which costs only $18,800?

Need some opinions before I decide whether to commit or not. Thanks in advance!
