For the 2 style of driving i have below, which one would you think is more fuel saving?

1. Accelerate hard so that the car shifts into the highest gear as soon as possible. The thinking behind this style is that the highest gear is more fuel efficient. This would mean rev to maybe 3k RPM to get the gearbox to switch asap.

2. Accelerate slowly, keeping the rev to below 2.5k RPM. Maybe reach the next junction also won't get to shift to 3rd of 4th gear but at least the acceleration is slow. The thinking is low RPM = drink less fuel.

Which of the above method would you think is better for FC?

TIA!

Usually before you get a vehicle you research alot on such things... go online and argue with ppl on how to tackle a curve at 90km/h. Basically keyboard warrior...

After buy liao drive 2mths, will find all these xtra stuffs you do meaningless. 小弟 you will grow up soon.

If at highway then maybe reaching the cruising speed earlier is more fuel efficient.

For streets, just drive according to situation. You can accelerate hard but see red light soon or accelerate slowly until traffic light and the cars infront move off nicely at same speed as yours, without you braking.

no use thinking so much abt fc
u will make the drive not enjoyable and soon sick of it
example buying a turbo car but without opening the turbo due to fc

want good fc, buy a good fc car
thats all u need

FC is striking a balance between your drive, not just pick up alone.

Just to save FC, you accelerate slowly, causing the irritation of others behind you, you will see all of them overtake you at higher speeds and you end up freaking out with all the traffic and horning at you.

You also fail to realise, the heavier the car, the harder you need to depress the pedal to get the car moving.

There are times you need to press harder, and times when you don't. Saving FC doesn't mean you go slower and irk the hell out of other drivers - especially at traffic lights.

IMHO, in your scenario, it should be method 1.
Method 2, you would be constantly stepping on the accelerator which uses fuel.
Method 1, you would be tapping or releasing the accelerator as you could be travelling rather fast at the desired gear.

Haha, i like to be 小弟 but i have been driving for more than 10 years already.

I have always been a light-footer and i don't really mind the FC (~13.xkm/lit). However, the style 1 i mentioned above is something i am exploring now with this new car and transmission, so just wanna gather some views on what ppl are doing (more like their habits).

I am not always the slowest out of the line but i am a light footer. Will note down ur point of being more considerate for drivers behind me.
Thanks!

Thanks. Now trying out method 1 and see. While the car is moving faster now, i don't enjoy hearing the engine at high rev. Maybe i will get used to it. :s13::s13:

IMHO, method 1 is suited for highway driving whereas method 2 for city driving with lots of start stop traffic. :)
