White budget CPU Cooler recommendations?

So I just bought an AM4 system and found out that the CPU backplate falls off each time the stock heatsink is unscrewed, making it a complete pain to reinstall.

Unless I grow a third hand, it's not possible to hold the backplate, CPU cooler and screwdriver to reinstall the CPU cooler.

So to get around this ridiculous design, I want to get a budget CPU cooler just to avoid this trouble of reinstalling the backplate each time I change thermal paste, preferably in white to match my ram.

The ID Cooling SE224XT looks like a good option, are there any other good options out there?

i had ID AIO before, within one year plus pump fail. then i had to switch to fan cooler. best you get better brands. just my opinion only.

Thanks, it looks like the closest competitor is the Hyper 212 White which is almost twice the price. I'm not sure if it's worth the extra money or if I should just get the ID fan cooler and then swap the fan out when it fails.

The ID cooler is quite well reviewed. I would take that over the Hyper 212.

Screwing the heatsink when the motherboard is installed is a pain in the _____.

Use tape to hold the backplate in place loh.....

This is a nice looking cooler. Performance is so-so though.

This choice from TS seems good as the cooler only $40 and not blocking any RAM slot.

But I wonder why TS need to frequently remove the cooler to change thermal paste

Looks nice, seems quite expensive though, I had a quick gander on Lazada and they're like $30? It's almost the same price as an aftermarket cooler. Is that the right price you usually see them at?

Yeah, I checked one roll of 3M double sided tape is like $12 and then I'll also have to figure out how to remove it before selling. Aftermarket cooler like not that much more money LOL.

Yes correct but this much easier to install, better options will be like other mention the ID cooler

It's cheaper on Shopee even, about $33. After I use all my coins and vouchers, about $20+ only.

I run a lot of long video renders, so the dust builds up very fast when the CPU is at 100% usage and the fans are spinning up for hours on end. Within two months the fan blades all covered in dust already.

To properly clean the fans I need to remove the heatsink, so there goes the thermal paste.

Ah okay, good point regarding white cooler, never thought about that. For now installation still okay cos I'm getting a new case so I can do it at the same time. Maybe I'll get the RGB version instead.

Normally for air cooler fan it's main advantage was easy maintenance and based on your description on the dust accumulation issue of cpu fan, I am more concerned on the environment you are living now, ever consider air purifier next to your PC?

Also if the system is inside a PC case with proper dust filter, this issue of 2 months dust accumulation almost impossible, unless the system now without any pc case. Care to share what PC case you are using now?

As per my personal usage I only need to clean up the dust of the CPU fan once a year using wipe & I can easily remove the fan from the air cooler just remove the fan clip instead of removing the whole cooler. My cpu fan was running 100% all time although not 24/7.

Next suggestion is to buy air duster blow your PC case once a month to reduce dust inside the pc case and clean the dust filter more frequently.

Actually I have doubt if it is really need to change thermal paste every 2 months and the frequency of removing the screw from cooler and motherboard will eventually lost it contact and this could results your backplate loosen issue.

Maybe you could consider invest in a better air cooler would save you more money in the long run with faster rpm and better material, try to avoid those cheap plastic cpu fan blade which will very easy accumulated dust due to its static nature and it is more difficult to remove dust by nature.

Air purifier no point cos I don't use aircon very often. The room is quite dusty and the PC is on the floor. Dust filter is just the basic one built into the Corsair Spec 01 case, nothing special.

When it renders it easily runs at 100% CPU fan speed for 12+ hours at one go, so you can imagine the airflow and the dust sucked from the floor after one or two months of that.

The cases I'm looking to upgrade to also nothing special in terms of dust filters and I definitely need a mesh front to keep the system cool during long renders.

Now using stock cooler so it's quite hard to remove the fan from the cooler to clean between, might as well upgrade to save the issue with the backplate.

yeah, probably better to just get a cheap used one off carousell and paint it urself...
