Is also not necessary to be top position. Some roles like sales with bonuses can pay MORE than the higher so called positions.

CEOs would much rather pay sales people who can bring in a LOT of money more than their own salaries if it benefits the company and the stock.

One example would be in insurance sales. Property sales. Car sales.
