Some people are very creative with Wall Mounting. Hopefully they can chime in and help.

But high end 10G capable WiFi 7 wireless routers are all pretty big now.

You can actually consider wired router in the DB box, and then use WiFi 7 APs outside.

Wired router options -- Ubiquity UDM SE, MikroTik, TP-Link Omada, Mini PC based, etc. They will have better features than Asus.
WiFI 7 AP -- using TP-Link EB810v (locked to Starhub), TP-link Archer BE805 (both at around S$400 from Carousell), TP-Link Omada AP, Unifi U7 Pro, etc

One example using TP-Link China version wired router and AP (in-wall and ceiling mounted)

There are not many 10G capable consumer wireless routers, even less if you need WiFi 7. But if you consider wired 10G router, actually there are quite some options, probably not for average users though.

UDM SE has two SFP+ ports. You can ask in the Ubiquiti thread for more advice. I am not so familiar with the Unifi ecosystem.

MikroTik may have more options.

Personally I will go for the mini PC route plus consumer WiFi 7 router running in AP mode, but no plan to go with 10Gbps plan any time soon, more like in year 2026 or even year 2028 as my home network is not ready (no LAN ports in the rooms but looking at laying Fibre down the road).

just seeing some options around.. moving house in 4 yrs time again.. then maybe can consider rerouting the cables haha.. for now.. see see look look if not.. I just use the current setup and wait for consumer options

Top mid-range China WIFi 7 routers comparison (all with at least quad 2.5G ports).

Personally I have four China WiFi 7 routers, Asus TUF 6500 and TP-Link TL-7DR6560, as well as ZTE BE7200 Pro+ (also a top choice for mid-range) and Xiaomi BE5000 (low end).

华硕小旋风Pro -- Asus TUF 6500, BE6500, with English FW, many FW features, Qualcomm IPQ5322 chipset, USB 3.0 port
锐捷BE72Pro -- Ruijie BE72 Pro, BE7200, MediaTek Filogic 860 chipset, many LAN ports, USB 3.0 port
普联7DR6560 -- TP-Link TL-7DR6560, BE6500, Qualcomm IPQ5322 chipset, no USB port
普联7DR7260 -- TP-Link TL-7DR7260, BE7200, MediaTek Filogic 860 chipset, no USB port

From the review, the two CPUs used in the above mid-range routers are not that strong. Without HW off-load, the CPU can not even support 1Gbps routing.

Another user in this forum is using TP-Link Omada setup, including EAP 773 WiFi 7 AP (BE13000, triband, with 6GHz support, true WiFi 7 AP). EAP883 is the higher end triband BE22000 version.
https://www.tp-link.com/sg/business-networking/omada-wifi-wifi7/

You can read more about his setup here.
1) ER8411 Gateway/ Router
2) SX3206HPP Switch (connected to ER8411 via SFP+ 10G port)
3) SG2008P Switch (connected to ER8411 LAN port)
4) 1 x EAP773 AP (connected to SX3206HPP)
5) 3 x EAP650-Wall AP (connected to SX3206HPP)
6) OC200 Controller (connected to SG2008P)

Hi Xiaofan,

I have a Singapore version of the Asus Be98 router. I need a small router in my room to act as an AiMesh node because I can't receive a signal in my room. The room has a LAN port, but I don't use a computer there, just Wi-Fi for watching movies. Can the Chinese version of the Asus Tuf-BE3600 connect to the Be98 and form an AiMesh? Will the effect be good?

What is your current mesh model? What is the WiFi 7 router model you are looking at?

TP-Link EB810v is a higher tier model compared to TP-Link Archer AX73, with much faster CPU and better WiFi chipset, and probably better antenna design as well.

Most of the current generation true WiFi 7 routers (with 6GHz band) local version sold in Singapore are high end models as of now with 10G port (with a few exceptions like TP-Link Archer BE550 and Deco BE65).

Asus Singapore -- only two high end models offered, ROG GT-BE98 and ZenWiFi BQ16
Netgear Singapore -- only highes end model as of now: Orbi 970
TP-Link Singapore -- mostly high end models as of now, with exception of Archer BE550 and Deco BE65.

TP-Link EB810v (Starhub) and TP-Link HB810 (Singtel) are actually high end models with dual 10G ports, even though they are service provide models locked to the ISPs for firmware updates. TP-Link Archer BE805 (MR) is not locked to MR but a consumer model. These three may have lower price in Carousell but they are still belonging to the higher end.

I am looking at Deco BE65 and will be subscribing to either 1 or 2gbps plan (max) for the short-term period, at least the 1st 2 years if I am in a contract.

Is this more than sufficient already since the higher speed ports are irrelevant unless I go for higher speed plans?

Deco BE65 is good enough for 1Gbps/2Gbps/2.5Gbps plans.

For those who want to go with Ubiquiti Unifi ecosystem, U7 Pro is available in Singapore store at S$299 is quite resonable for a true WiFi 7 AP with 6GHz band support.

If you are interested, please go to the Ubiquiti Unifi thread.

Review of U7 Pro and the comparison with U6 Pro.

Ubiquiti also comes out with U7 Pro Wall and U7 Pro Max, not so sure when there will be available in Singapore store.

In the first post, I mentioned the following.
4. Note: as of now in July 2024, other than the 10G capable WiFi 7 routers bundled with the above three Telco's 10Gbps plan ( if you subscribe to their 10Gbps plan). I do not recommend buying any local version of WiFi 7 routers due to high cost and lack of compatible WiFi 7 clients with the exception of TP-Link Archer BE805 (around S$400+ BNIB from Carousell, dumped by MR users). It is not a custom model.

I also think that WiFi 6E is dead on arrival in Singapore. So what to buy in 2024? Still WiFi 6 router.

Interestingly Dongknows has a recent article with the same opinion.

Hi Xiaofan, both Asus BE6500 and TUF TX AX6000 is around same price, which will would you go for?

It is a tough call.

As of now, I will still recommend TUF-AX6000 since there are still some issues with the TUF-6500. Moreover TUF-AX6000 has good OpenWRT support. TUF-AX6000 will not get Merlin FW support and unlikely to get OpenWRT support either.

That being said, I bought the TUF-6500 and I hope Asus will improve the FW.
