You can't have a minimum wages for Singaporeans only. That is discrimination.

It is not the government that is paying minimum wage. It is the business owner and a lot of business owners are Singaporeans who want to open small businesses.

Imagine if you want to open a stall and the government orders you to pay 13 dollars an hour ie. 3000 dollars a month for a helper.

It can be done. But rental markets will have to go through a correction first.

If a business cannot afford to operate in its environment than there is something wrong with its business model. Probably the best is for such businesses to go burst and allow the human capital to be channelled into business that are profitable. Singapore has a small population it is better not to waste human resources in businesses that depend on artificially enforced low labour costs to survive.
