given the long term plan to relocate paya lebar air base and free up the site for development, there should be a line there eventually (2030s - 2040s)?
More likely an overground line by 2040, or an underground line after 2040.

If you see any soil investigations works for unusua locations, please share here.
Eg along some main road or in HDB estates where the site too small for development.

Could the AMK SERS project be an early sign of the new line?
Station at sengkang west road then down begonia road then interchange at Tavistock at those sers blocks now. Current discussion on skyscraper city forum but cant seem to insert links here.

Northern coastline, when flats continue to be built eastwards of Yishun and Canberra towards the coast.

Nowadays most places are within 10min walk to a mrt station
Those that are more than 10min away really consider ulu bah

Construction of the Cross Island Line began on Wednesday (Jan 18) and Phase 1, with 12 stations, is expected to be completed by 2030. There will eventually be at least 30 stations.

According to the article, the Cross Island Line is planned to have at least 30 stations, currently the CRL has 22 stations including the Changi airport T5 station and the Punggol extension. The CRL terminates at Gul Circle station so it will probably add another 4 stations in the southwest, making it 26 stations.

Probably the best way for CRL to have over 30 stations is if the Punggol extension is extended westward to Seletar Airport, Yishun, Sembawang, Senoko and Woodlands North.

In Google map there is a MRT line along Whampoa area, station number starting with WP,
From city area extending to Kim Keat,
Serangoon Garden, seletar Airport, Simpang and further north.

On skyscraper city theres a few maps of the alignment, Should be jalan kayu --> sengkang west/grenich --> tavistock --> serengoon gardens --> lorong chuan (waiting for enbloc first to reallocate the land) --> whampoa? Then CRL punggol extension can be its own line upp to Woodlands north to yishun then punggol. Interchange at seletar airport

Inclined to see the stretch between Pasir Ris and Seletar become a spur line of its own, hence the station codes CP (and not something related to North Shore). The new line is likely a continuous line between Keppel and Woodlands North via Seletar.

From my understanding, Serangoon north was mentioned during the announcement of the feasibility study back in 2019.

The study still no update till now...

Almost 3-4 years already.
This was announced as part of the new Land Transport Master Plan (LTMP) 2040, which was launched on May 25, 2019.

According to the LTMP 2040, the yet-unnamed line will supplement the transport network in the north and northeast region and benefit areas such as Woodlands, Sembawang, Sengkang, Serangoon North, Whampoa, Kallang, and the Greater Southern Waterfront.

3 months more will be 4 years already...

I find the serangoon north a little longer than usual. Like mayflower. Maybe serangoon north will be a interchange with the seletar-whampoa line that will be completed in 2040.

How long did they say the study will take?
