Hi,

Anyone knows of any companies providing window solar films + installation? I'm only interested in doing my kitchen windows and wish to block out as much sunlight and heat as possible.

I checked with a company, and they said just doing the kitchen windows would be very expensive.

Thank you.

I used iQue from vKool, cost $767 (after installation and gst) for 171.40sqft. Was one of the lowest price when I look around. 3M quote me $2500 and Oasis deco quote abt $1100. Just get them down to do a quotation.

Ique is one of the atas brands. they have so much papers to choose.

ique quoted me S$ 15 b4 discount and discount is 20% but add 0.5 dollar for strip old film and the site measurement plus 20% area ...

Never bother to give them the business because take a 3m metre to test their sample paper already out of specs liao ..

lucky i never choose Ique.

$15 you must chosen the highend one. I just checked my quote, mine was $4 ($3.6 after 10% discount). I am using their 18H, which is Dark Grey and total solar energy rejection (TSER) of 63%. I google and found TSER is more important than IRR. Don't understand what you meant by "take a 3m metre to test their sample paper already out of specs"

Anyway, each will have their own preference. Just share my cost so that we as consumer will know what is available. Maybe you share the company and cost that did your window film.

Managed to find someone who's willing to install solar film for just one room

damage $150... quite reasonable, considering how other companies are taking surcharges for one room.

but the workmanship is :s22: one row of specks

Is this even considered acceptable?

cost to me is the last thing in mind because specifications does ...

yes that is true..there is many types/brands out there.

but beware..many dealers outside overcharge for the quality of film that they offer..and specs is really just a piece of paper, you need to test it and try it out yourself.

an honest dealer will give you different choices/grades to choose from, from normal type that block some heat, to those that really block alot of heat. Ceramic type..dyed type..metallic..sputtering..

if anyone have more questions can pm me anytime..i am more than happy to share. :)

anyway beware of those "metres" that dealers use! I am sorry to say but those metres are "rigged", it only measures a certain wavelength of the solar spectrum.

best way to test is really use a heat lamp and shine through a laminated glass, then you can feel the effect.

I share and agree your point.

On my present cars i have changed several solar films ... from a couple of vendors. dark tint does not mean reflect heat. light film does not mean it does not reject heat enough.

ie to say dun see the color / tint of the film to decide ....

Specifications is not the whole story ... but a sample test can tell if paper results are rigged ...

i received samples from several vendors but usually over declared ... but some are pretty good.

when installing cut some film and test it again to ensure you get the correct film.

pay 1 cent get 1 cent quality ... so ask me recommend i cant unless you know what you want the hat i wear and the hat you wear is different.

if you cleaned it only once, it wont affect much. but it is advisable not to do it again, instead just use a soft cloth with some soap/water and wipe.

by using these window detergent, the chemical nature of these products will wear off the film. but of course not clean one time then spoil.

yes you are absolutely right. there are many other factors that determines how effective the film can block heat - not just the color.

and actually many vendors do not "over declare", they just give you a specific set of data measured in a certain wavelength of the solar spectrum. the IR spectrum is from 780nm - 2500nm. Most vendors only give IR Rejection data from 900nm-1000nm.

This is just marketing play - "REJECT 99% IR RAYS". This does not mean that 99% heat is blocked lol, IR only forms 53% of the whole solar spectrum, and this data is only measured from certain wavelength (900nm-1000nm).

usually normal consumers will not know this. but do be careful. i want to share this to prevent others from falling into same trap.
