anyway no rush to updating there's no noticable benefit in my experience and also laptop battery life still exactly the same after updating

My PC 12700k on DDR4-3600 XMP has just updated to Windows 24H2 without any incident.
What is your Intel/AMD CPU generation?

I am on Ryzen 7000 series.
Anyway, my PC is back up already after clean install.

For that to happen the SST has to be 3 years out of date on 11th gen. The version no. in 2024 starts with 20.

After using Windows 11 for years and been on 23H2 for a long time, I decided to install Windows 10 22H2 after seeing people say it still performs better than Windows 11.

Out of box it seemed worse, I had more dips and stutters, installed Atlas OS to debloat performance seems quite comparable to Windows 11 I had earlier. But I think I'm just very used to the UI elements in Windows 11 so I'll switch back to 23H2 again.

Windows NT 10.0 family is what it is trying to say. @naked123 was trying to refer to build number.

So nothing is wrong.

For AMD Ryzen 7000 series and above it is recommended to install Win 11.
These generation Win 10 support has drop, if you check under device manager.
You will see a missing component and that is a AMD Security coprocessor.

Win 10 doesn't fully support Ryzen 7000 and with 24H2 it is optimized for
newer Ryzen CPU.
Intel wise you won't see a big difference but from 12th gen onwards is best
to install Win 11.

For me I am using Intel i9 9900k Win 10, I did try with Win 11 23H2 did see
some dip in performance. 24H2 maybe another time once it is more stable
as more and more news about issue with 24H2 is slowly popping up.

Basically, MS needs to update their kernel versioning so it will report correctly as win 11 but they have a track record of not doing it. Not a major issue though because app can also choose to report by getting the data from other areas.

Err... actually Win 11 is Win 10 but just a major overhaul.
When the day comes software recongize Win 11 as Win 11 than that means
it is no longer based on Win 10 anymore.

I doubt will come that soon.

From Wikipedia, Windows Vista was 6.0, Windows 7 was 6.1, and Windows 8 is 6.2, Windows 8.1 is 6.3. None of those OS were ever rewritten from ground up.

This version 10.0 has already around sit for 9 years which is significantly longer than any version that ever existed despite new technological advancements.

The builds in the Win 10 era before Win 11 are used by server 2022/2019/2016, and Win 10 itself, and because how the latest builds are drastically different, these mentioned OS will never receive the latest builds.

The latest 10.0 NT builds are meant only to be used by Win 11 and Win 2025 due to programmatic differences which just goes to show how they shouldn't be contained under 10.0 anymore but it apparently is.

I've read that they just stopped updating it for compatibility checks so the NT versioning has pretty much lost its meaning at this point.

That's why.. i think its time to update?

yes, the 'new' windows 11 context menu sucks.
I have been doing this change since windows 11 launched.
