Puy Blanquet should be drunk first, although it is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, the bodied is fairly light with some nice secondary development. i.e: earth and leather.

The rest can be drunk with some decanting and still good for keeping at least another 3-5yrs.

noted. with pop puy blanquet soon!

what did u guys drink over the weekend?

Aside from my Muga tastings, I opened a 09 Schlossgut Diel "Diel de Diel". A very good producer in Nahe, Germany but this was their entry level white cuvee, blend of riesling, pinot blanc and something else...

How're the Muga wines? Is the more expensive Prado Gran Reserva that much better than the Especial? Thinking of making another trip down to ToTT

hey andice2, you can check out my very very brief description of the wines.
below.

I have also written some quick tasting notes:

Prado Enea
http://www.cellartracker.com/wine.asp?iWine=797182

haven't written for the especial yet.

Overall i preferred the Prado at least within that 10 minutes of opening the bottle and constant swirling. I cannot say which one would be better after an hour.

The Prado seems to be able to age further to a better stage..

case in point for the 2 wines by MUGA. Overall while the '05 was rather accessible the '04 was initially rather austere but over time it developed into something far more complex and enjoyable in the '04. but these guys can last for much longer in the cellar.

You can watch a review of the 01 Prado Enea (skip to 18:00)

wfa is only 27-28. think pre-registration closed and it's a trade event. not sure if enthus are allowed in.

I've just got the $5 pre-register tix for Wines Fiesta (WFA) online. Don't seems to see premium tix available now which I wanted to get.

Thanks bro. From your description both seem closely matched w Prado edging out on complexity. I'd probabaly get the Especial as the Prado pricing is edging on GCC price point (psychological for me).

Anyways, cant make it for WFA, u guys do enjoy:s12:

Yeah they're both good and very well made, so getting the especial is still a very good buy. They're blends of mainly tempranillo with some garnacha (Grenache) and graciano (or was it mazuelo

Yeah will be going to the wine fair. My first time at such an event, any idea what to expect there? Is this organised by Straits Wine? Btw when I tried to buy a premium ticket for a friend, the website only listed the basic ticket option, but on the payment menu I was able to purchase a premium one.

On another note, I'm helping my sis-in-law in choosing the wine for her co.'s D&D. Looking at around 60 bottles, budget is max $30 per bott. Am inclined to think towards Aussie wines, due to general accessibility and QPR, though I would like some Old World options if possible. I can only think of the some Cote Du Rhone at that price point. To go with Chinese food. Any suggestions?

so there's like 2 Wine Fiesta's on that day. One is the annual one organized by Straits Wine Company that they do every year.

The other one is an extension of the Wine For Asia trade event this Thursday and Friday. I suspect the one you got i the WFA one. I'm going to the WFA one too.

at $30 there's lots of options. CdR will do fine, I find aussie not as much unless you know that producer does more of a medium bodied style of red. You can try reds from the Loire valley (try the 03/05 vintage). You can look to Pinots (but under $30 is difficult)

have a stroll around suntec carrefour and bottles&bottles (just opposite C4) and see if they have any offers.

Going to jones the grocer on fri for lunch. Meeting a good friend who is returning back to his home country after more than 15 years in sg. Gonna share a bottle of wine from the same producer that we shared when we visited Barcelona in 2008. This producer was probably the first that gave me the wow factor in his wines.

Wine is a great way to mark a memory. I have kept the bottles I have shared at memorable occasions and arranging them in view is a great way to preserve those good memories of friendship and love. That's another reason why I love wine so much.

Btw corkage for jones is a reasonable $12

totally agreed with you, a good bottle of wine, with the right company, at the right moment, all these make good memories!

a vast majority of wine nowadays contains sulphites (sulphur dioxide) to minimize oxidation while. the market for natural wines in Singapore is minimal at best, and to be honest I don't know where I can find Natural Wines.

There is a small Natural Wine movement in the UK and there have been an increase in a number of fairs or events that showcase Natural Wines.

Do you feel you get headaches because of the sulphur dioxide or is it just of a health concern.

to be honest, sulphites are added for a reason and i think within tolerable ranges, it's ok for the wines to had sulphur dioxide added just prior to bottling.

There is a good article i read on the decanter magazine on Natural Wines. I have managed to find the online version: http://www.decanter.com/people-and-places/wine-articles/529224/natural-wines

heading to Straits Wines - Wines Fiesta tonite! hope to leave the place in sober state.. hehe

Field report- just back from wines fiesta, frankly speaking, I m quite disappointed w this year event. The no of labels featured have reduced noticeably this yr.I dun see much burgundy labels this yr, and much of the bottles are of entry level bottles. Really nothing much to shout abt this yr, except for the view of MBS and CBD. Will seriously considering whether to go for next yr event...

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, will be at the Wine Fiesta (WFA) at Suntec City correct? As opposed to Customs House (Straits Wine).
Busy weekend, can only be there in the afternoon around 2pm.
Hope to see ya guys there.
