there are many many many bottles below $80 to recommend, but i would suggest getting something you dunno what the heck it is to experience something new and interesting.

Any idea if this temp store will be open tomorrow?
Oops just read the threads above - too bad not open next two days :(

Btw bought a Dauvergne Ranvier Crozes Hermitage 2009 at Cellar Door. Hope it'll be as nice as the Alain Graillot..

Drank Selbach Riesling Classic 2010, La Ferme Red CDR 2009 and D'Arenberg's Original 2008 the past two days.

The Riesling was nice and developed well over the dinner, and while I liked the dark cherry flavours in the La Ferme Red CDR on the palate it was a bit too oaky for my liking. Didn't really like the D'Arry's Original - too fruity and sweet without any tannic structure.

@muthucurry: yup it's from the vinum sales.

@hkm: was looking around and saw some nice stuff with some age on it at a good price.

will be going back as they will be open until Feb. They are, however, closed tomorrow and Monday. u guys gotta try more whites from the Rhone; undervalued IMO. hit up the Clos du Caillou Chateauneuf du Pape blanc for awesome wines.

Here's a pic of the place for those who haven't been there. Good business decision to rent out the place. Much better visibility and foot-traffic in the area versus their usual Vinum place, plus more space. Also there's posters around the area (and even at LIDO cinema) that notifies the public of the sale; but that's just the marketing person in my talking ;)

This is an evil place, I succumbed to the temptation everytime when I stepped in the shop!

Popped by Le Benaton yesterday, after having breakfast at Choupinette (nice!). The very friendly - and funny - guy there let me try a few interesting French wines; a Loire Sauvignon (salty!), a Nimes white (nice!), some Languedoc reds and an unoaked CDP.

Was looking for their Cellier Palmy Merlot, recommended in The Local Nose, but they were sold out. Got an early-drinking Languedoc Cabernet instead.

@reign: http://tinyurl.com/7rz59jb check out this google map link. basically there is a side entrance that's right next to the oval Macs sign. Go in and it's the 2nd store on the right. They are closed today.

drank my 2001 Yarra Yarra Syrah that I bought from the Vinum sales last night with roasted chicken and pasta at a friend's house.

For the SHL, i assume it's their red and not their blanc right? the price looks ok i guess. should be around that range.

actually not much to shout about for the wine and i'm not a very descriptive person, need to learn more from you. I had it with hor fun with extra pork. doesn't really go well.

yup SHL is the red. recently priced i seen for 2006 all above $100. Did not check with crystal wine though.

more worth it to spend my money at Vinum sale instead?

HI Ikileo

Is it the cellar proceed was wrong as the website states that it can last longer, cos i think i might have 1 at home in my cupboard and fear that it might be worse as i don't have proper storage as compared to yours.

managed to clear a few bottles over the long weekend, got mixed feelings...

2007 Thibault Liger-Belair Nuits St. Georges La Charmotte - this is a fruit bomb with excessive sweetness (and alcohol heat). not enjoyable at all.

2004 Château Moulin Riche - typical left bank, nice nose and a bit oaky. nothing to shout abt for the taste.

2007 Clos de l'Oratoire - thank god this bottle rescued my long weekend. it is elegant, fruity (not a fruit bomb), and the style is very refined and offerred enough complexity. will go back for more!

Reign, you should refer to the bottom page and look for Yarra Yarra Syrah. If you having the same bottle as ikileo. The suggested drinking window is up to 2016.
The YY is their flagship wines made from Cab Sau. Hence longer drinking window.

Drank Water Wheel Memsie last weekend during a family dinner. Rich and flavorful Shiraz blend. Can sense quite high alcohol although label only stated 14%. To me it has over delivered at $21 I paid.
