Same to you guys Happy New Year
I opened a Le Baron De Brane 2004, 2nd wines of Château Brane-Cantenac last night during a family countdown gathering knowing that they like a smooth medium bodied red. A typical Bordeaux but it served the purpose well but I felt a little pity as it only showed its true potential after 2 hours decanting and my last glass.
I also drank a sweet french wines: First Frost Wine - Chabot 2002 and a Late Harvest Riesling from Cloudy bay. The French sweet wines was quite interesting and not as sweet as LH Riesling, with nice honey and green tea notes. Again not everything make by Cloudy Bay is good, the sweetness not fully balance out by the acidity and it has no mid-palate and finishing at all.
I have opened a half bottle Château Lascombes 2004 and let it slow ox inside the chiller for tonight. Hopefully it will open up nicely.
