Heh I'm feeling under the weather too but am soldiering on.

Hope to reach on time, but with the traffic to town, will probably be slightly late.

My wife's friend can't make it at the last minute, needed to clear some work. That's down to eight.

I brought an additional white, not sure if that's too much - 8 pax & 6 bottles?

Hey guys, thanks again for making the time to have this wine session. It really great to meet up with all of you to enjoy the wine, food and good conversation. We can target our next session after cny.

Quick administrative planning for next session if it is going to materialise. Reused the same spreadsheet.

Since I've not made any plans yet, whichever gets onto my calendar first has the priority (with exception of family/loved ones of course).

It could be the same for you guys, so you might want to indicate your preference. I reckoned that most common folks would have gone back to work so I've not provisioned for lunch since it'd most likely be a dinner event.

As for the theme, it may be CNY but it'd be nicer if it's not all just red so I'd just propose something that is vibrant to match the occasion. "Vibrant" is open to interpretation and you only need to explain why you brought what you brought. :)

Let's start the ball rolling!

Happy New Year everyone. Did you guys have any celebratory drinks last night or today? I had none, but I will make up for it tomorrow!

Thanks, Happy New Year and good health to all too!

Had a Donnhoff Qba Riesling at a dinner cum countdown function at Jumbo. Very good, off-dry with great acid and minerals.

Also drank a Prunotto Barbera d'Asti Fiulot. Nice food wine, but I'm thinking the d'Astis tend to be a bit more sour and tart compared to the d'Albas I've had.

Yeah, hope to drink more these few days!

Same to you guys Happy New Year :)

I opened a Le Baron De Brane 2004, 2nd wines of Château Brane-Cantenac last night during a family countdown gathering knowing that they like a smooth medium bodied red. A typical Bordeaux but it served the purpose well but I felt a little pity as it only showed its true potential after 2 hours decanting and my last glass.

I also drank a sweet french wines: First Frost Wine - Chabot 2002 and a Late Harvest Riesling from Cloudy bay. The French sweet wines was quite interesting and not as sweet as LH Riesling, with nice honey and green tea notes. Again not everything make by Cloudy Bay is good, the sweetness not fully balance out by the acidity and it has no mid-palate and finishing at all.

I have opened a half bottle Château Lascombes 2004 and let it slow ox inside the chiller for tonight. Hopefully it will open up nicely.

I can't commit any dates after CNY and likely I will not be free after CNY. Maybe we can have a weekend afternoon (3-6pm) tasting session at Boon Keng Extra Space with Pot Luck. That will be either 7,8, 14 or 15. I will share a special bottle that I store at ES.
