yes true, it's got lots of producers but if u stick to the good ones it's hard to go wrong.

to be honest, u sound as though u are from winesupply and are trying to promote the site. we have an unspoken full disclosure policy here so please let us know if you are from winesupply. we like to keep things open.

No problem. If I ever join them one day you will be the first one I notify. Guess I am a little too excited since I just discover them too long ago. Sorry about over promoting.

hkm: That's nice. Agree, I think many wine tastings lack the casual appeal, and food is always a good way to loosen up, and I don't mean just a basket of biscuits and cheese.

ikileo: Wa, very vigilant! Maybe we can call you Hawkeye henceforth...

WineLover: The winesupply site looks pretty nice, not your average selection but range is still pretty small compared to sites like ewineasia. Anyone tried them before? Not sure how popular they are in the community but I like their Alsace (Kreydenweiss), Barbaresco (Albino Rocca), Trentino (Foradori), Veneto (Pieropan), N Rhone (Graillot), Duoro (Quinta do Vale Meao) labels.

@winelover: it's ok, just wanted to encourage an open discussion within this forum to minimize any commercial agenda.

@looiwte: i haven't bought wine online before but i do like ewineasia's offerings.

@beta_tester: it's supposed to be an oaked sauvignon blanc and fermented with wild indigenous yeasts. and released 3 years from vintage. i haven't had one but i expect it to be very rich and opulent. u can try and let us know?

my Dark Knight Rises movie wine:

41%2BlYG-KdQL._SL500_AA300_.jpg

opened the bottle in office and let it breathe for about 6 hours prior to dinner.
Ate HK baked rice with pork chop at Imperial Treasure Windows of Hong Kong in Somerset Triple 1. Free corkage.

Drank half the bottle with my buddy during dinner. Polished off the remaining half during the nearly 3 hour movie.

Nose: Upon opening, it was still tight but during dinner and the movie it had lots of red cherries, lovely notes from the oak. this is when oak is done right and not overpowering the wine, lending notes of roasted coffee beans and vanillin. There was a rose aspect to the nose as well. all in all, very classic tempranillo nose.

Taste: For a 12 year old wine, this still had some grip from the tannins, especially at the tail end of the palate. This actually needs another 5 years in my opinion to reach its peak. This has a wild garrigue and rustic elegance to it. rich but not over the top with some spice and cloves at the backend. good long finish. overall this wine just needs a bit more time to develop and get better and smoothen its rough edges.

but for $50, this really delivers a very good wine experience.

'Rustic elegance' - I like! For 50 bucks this seems great value.

Btw, Carrefour Warehouse Wine Sale at PS - anyone?

Has anyone tried the Le Plan (S. Rhone) or the J. Boutin (N. Rhone) labels?

The Fair is on??

Sweet.. Will go down later to check it out.. :)

Went to check out the fair just now.
Hall divided into new world (various merchants, like pinnacle, cornerstone, etc) selling and promoting (got sampling) new world wines. Mostly supermarket stuff. Most sold at deep discounts.

Old world section are the wines from C4.. Mostly Bordeaux, some Italians, some Germans, and that's about it.

Very similar (in terms of range) to the fair in May at Suntec, but smaller scale this time round.

Nothing much noteworthy in the New World section - usual gimmicky free gifts or bundle promotions.

Italian - Some unheard of mass producers with wines like Nebbilo D'Alba, Nero d'Avola/Syrah blend and Brunello, along with Abruzzo's Cerulli Spinozzi - under the Banfi umbrella - with Montepulciano d'Abruzzo and a Rose wine made from Montepulciano grape. No sign of the Montepulciano d'Abruzzo Colline Teramane that reign brought at one of the outings.

French - Large number of Bordeaux offerings, including old vintages (late 80s to 90s) from Cru Bourgeois producers. Quite a few Loire wines as well, from Saumur, Chinon, and Anjou. I got some cheap Muscadet (<$20), from Domaine Herbauges, of the Cotes de Grandlieu appellation, to try. There were also Rhone wines, mostly from J. Boutin (Hermitage, Cote Rotie, St Joseph and Crozes Hermitage) and Le Ferme du Mont (CdP, Gigondas, Vacqueyras) and a few basic LePlan wines (Cotes du Rhone, Carrignan Rouge). Usual Alsace offerings from Arthur Metz, though not as much as before. Also some Burgundy offerings but I'm not too familiar with those.

Can go stock up on the ferme du mont cote du rhone blanc that reign brought the last time.

I am still sitting on my 09 boutin hermitage. Maybe can try the other cheaper rhones. The Arthur Metz sparkling alsatian wine is pretty good.

Did they bring in the Leon beyer Alsatian wines?

Didn't see the A Metz Cremant, if that's the one you're referring to.

Also did n't see the turquoise colors of Leon Beyer, though there was a Wein&Vin counter promoting German Riesling and Spatburgunder.
