bought a 2000 Dehesa la Granja Seleccion from Spain. one of the 4 estates belonging to the Pesquera Group. got it at Isetan supermarket.

it is brought in by cellarmaster, who also own Toque at ToTT. I went to check prices at Toque and it was $66 while Isetan sold it at $54; probably because Cellarmaster sold it to them at a price for a specific margin.

will probably be drinking that tomorrow when I'm watching Dark Knight!

didn't drink any wine this week cos drank too much Chivas during the Bintan trip. Not a big fan of hard liquor in general but this was for 'company bonding' so no choice... although i can hold, but i hate to 'tah'

hey winelover, welcome to the forum.

i haven't really done wine shopping online. the most i did was i ordered some riesling through the producers website when i was living in germany for a couple of momths.

which online retailers do u visit?

Thank you. Has been viewing the forum for awhile before deciding on joining.

Anyway I chance upon this website thewinesupply.com.sg Some really nice labels in there and not that pricey. I have to add, good service from the staff as well..

gonna secretly pop it in the office to test it out first to see how much air time it needs.

Most decent wine shops have banquet services, including delivery and sometimes unconsumed bottles can be returned.

For example, this is the offering from Crystal Wines: http://www.crystalwines.com/images/form/Wedding Banquet List.pdf

You can try Cornerstone too, they carry many good labels, if you have the budget, but also their budget house wines as well.
http://www.cornerstonewines.com/wine_invest.html

Think it depends on your budget and requirements. Are you looking to serve a specific style of wine, or as long as have booze can liao?

A recent wedding had this supermarket wine, simply labeled Californian Red, don't even know the varietals involved, at around $11 per bottle. Pretty drinkable actually.

I got married before I became a wine geek, and we served Yellow Tail Cabernet at our banquet. Got quite a few compliments on the wine heh..

Heya, appreciate ur inputs. I will try the wines myself very soon :o

Germany Riesling Kabinett and Spatlese. Off dry but very good acid to balance it elegantly and also a good match for many local dishes.

Chambolle Musigny 1er cru and some Australian cooler climate red that I am still exploring.

What about you?

Cloudy Bay is really nice stuff. Great representative of a Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc. I was talking about the online retail few post ago, they got this Clifford Bay white/red which is also from NZ. Very good quality and value for money which I always buy for gathering or daily drinking.

You might want to try.

my first loves are german rieslings (kabinett/spat) styles and spanish reds.

other regions i am enthusiastic about about are Loire, aussie rieslings and sparkling wine from pretty much any region.

Loire is great. All kind of styles produce there. Sancerre is pretty gd. Aussie riesling from Clare Valley is superb as well.
I think Sparkling from Limoux is pretty interesting.

Clare is great. I have found much success in Eden valley as well. Sitting on a couple of grossets (Clare) and knappsteins(Eden)

I am a big fan of loire reds, white, sweets an sparklingly. Actually I prefer chenin to Sauvignon Blancs in Loire. Limoux is great value for sparkling. The one found in 1855 bottle shop (something something premiere bulle brut) goes for $40+ and is excellent.

Oh and how can I forget rhone valley? I generally prefer the northern rhone but I have a soft spot for gigondas. IMO white Rhones are severely undervalued.

Henschke did well in Eden. So I guess you like Coteaux du Layon and stuff. Nice sticky there.

I know the Premiere Bulle. The website also feature that at 40+ but delivery to doorstep.

Rhone Blanc really depends on which producer. Too many grape variety available. Cote Rotie is one of my favourite Rhone. St Joseph as well.

Just attended a Chateau Musar wine dinner at Vintry tonight with a group of friends where I found out from city nomads (refer to link below)

Lebanese Wine Chateau Musar Wine Dinner at Vintry at Vintry - Experience Wine - Citynomads

It was a very nice wines dinner, I have a good opportunity to taste the wines with food in a more relax setting with great company and the Chateau representative. Tasted vertical Chateau Musar Rouge of 2002, 2000, 1999, 1997, 1996 & 1995. This was even better than my last Chateau Musar tasting at Cristal Wines, which I think more wines evaluation than enjoyment. And one very important factor is the company. All of my friends were very impressed of the quality of Chateau Musar and I am very satisfied because my friends were very enjoyed of the food & wines. That said good company are very important beside good wines and good food. :)
