and i just cleared space for my Italian haul.

@nautilus: btw, sorry if i'm blur and need you to repeat again:
In the end how many bottles did you bring back?
How did you pack it?
How much tax did you pay?
No worries. I brought back 8 bottles that are packed in a purpose-made shockproof styrofoam box which i packed in my luggage. Ended up paying about $15 worth of alcohol tax without GST. GST would be based on the value you choose to declare for your wines.

Hello everybody!

Hello everyone:s8:

I am new to wine. My first bottle of red wine was an Australian wine. I love red and white wine, and I usually drink at home with my mother. I am actually still learning to differentiate the different tastes and aromas of dry red/white wines and I still have a long way to go.

This is a good thread to learn from all of you:) I should have join earlier:o

Hello Ikileo:)

So far, For NZ wine, I had tried and enjoy drinking their Pinot Noir and Gewurztraminer.

I also had tried the Italian red wine, Castello Di Ama 2006. The body is not too strong which suit my personal preference.

To night I am going to open a bottle of Alsace, Gewurztraminer 2009 for dinner. One of the lady from the wine shop recommended it to me and said that it has a taste of lychee.

I am learning to write down the taste of the wine in my tasting note

@cosycatus - some nice deals there but most of the wines are the really entry level ones available at most supermarkets.

@beta_tester - more new world pinots or burgs?

I just realised that I must have at least 50 or 100 post count in order to upload photos in my post :s31:

I just wanna share the wine that I had enjoyed over the weekends :s12::

1) Alsace (France) - Léon Beyer - Gewürztraminer 2009

It has an excellent lift of lychee aroma. It is not very sweet and leaves a smooth finishing on the pallet. Very refreshing. It tastes almost like a Japanese rice wine to me.

2) Brian Ridge (Australia) - Red Trio - Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Shiraz 2007

Each type of grapes expressed each of its own character to create a mouth feel from this wine.
The color is ruby red and it has an aroma of ripe berries, plum, spice and oak character. A refined body as the tannins are soft, balanced with layers of mulberries, wild berries and plum flavors on the palate.

@reign: so coincidental! so did I. But i just signed up for a tasting of German Pinot Noirs (aka Spatburgunder). They are all by the winery Weingut Berhard Huber. I actually had tried this producer before when I was on exchange in Germany back in 2008. I had bought a bottle of his kabinett riesling at a high end supermarket and was surprised by how good it was. He is easily one of the top pinot producers in Germany. He is from the Baden region, which is where i got the bottle from: the city of Stuttgart, which is the capital.

It will be held at Taberna. You can email them but very limited seats, 15 in total so do call if you are interested.

Anyone here loves Georgian wines? There's only 2 outlets selling them in Singapore, one is in Citylink.
