Maybe you can try those at Ikea.
go take a look.

Ikea got sell?

since we at this topic, i also like to seek advice as I heard there are 2 kinds of wine fridge. One runs like the fridge [cooler system] we have at home and another type is those electric kind which is not as durable.

any truth in this? also how do I differentiate between these 2?

Actually, Im also looking for wine fridge that can hold around 10 bottles. I used to have one from Farfalla for that size for arnd $100-$200 but spoils easy after about a year. The next avail one i saw in best denki like for 20-30 bottles is $800!

Any recommendation for one that can really last and just need to hold 10-20 bottles?

3 tips on buying wine storage:

1) Get a reputable brand
2) The compressor system (like a fridge) is really worth the extra bucks
3) Always get a fridge with capacity of at least 20% more than you need

do your research first loh. go online and find out the models that have compressor.

either way, just tell the salesmen u want the compressor type, they will be more than happy to sell u 'cos it's more expensive.

I have heard of wine decanter, but I don't have one. I open the bottle and drink at once, =:p can't wait.
Btw, how long do I have to leave the bottle open (breathe)? Which type of wine needs to decant, does it mean cheap one usually not necessary and expensive is a must?

I wish to join wine free tasting someday, however, I am shy to drink wine/alcohol in public area coz my face turns red easily.:o

HI bro, for the Decanter, if You are able to drop by the Amara Hotel, there is a wine shop at the left side of the hotel, i think they are selling a Decanter ( the big base type) at $20.00. You might wanna check it out or, just a cheaper one at ikea..

I have been on an alcohol detox since I came back due to the large amount of wine I consumed in Italy. Not used to it, plus I am a bit of a health junkie. Will probably stave off from wine until a wedding dinner I am attending on the 2nd week of June. I will probably not buy any wine for the next few months also, blew up quite a bit of cash on wine in Italy.

Good to see you taking good care of your body!
Ever since I've been getting into wine, mom and mom-in-laws have been nagging me non-stop about it being addictive etc.
I don't even drink that much, just every other day, a glass or two, with meals.

Btw can I just ask how you brought the wine back? In the wooden boxes, separate luggage, declared?? Would cargo conditions spoil a wine, eg. maybe a Brunello that I'll plan to keep >10 years?

as long as you inform your parents that it's all in moderation, then you won't binge and you only have it with meals, it will take some time to get used to but it will be fine. as long as you are consistent and not have a single problem while drinking wine it should be ok.

asian society is not used to having wine/alcohol with meals, in european cultures this is very common. but you just have to assure them that it's ok and you are in control. Do let them know about the health benefits of drinking red wine in moderation.

as for transportation, I just wrapped the bottles in bubble wrap (you can buy from the post office), and then wrapped it in my clothes. I placed them in my luggage with other stuff surrounding it so it won’t roll, move about in the luggage. Cargo conditions are fine, don’t worry about it. You should just worry about the declaration at customs.

i think nautilus is the most equipped to inform you on that.

I went through the 'nothing to declare' with all the bottles in my bag. didn't pay the tax.
