Will be good if you can mention what type of red wines she prefers. Light bodied, heavy bodied, fruity, tannins, etc.

Wine Exchange Asia is having a release of the full portfolio of wines from Grosset.
I mentioned in a previous post that Grosset is basically one of the best (if not the best) Riesling producer in Australia; famous for his dry rieslings (Polish Hill & Watervale) from his estate in the Clare valley.

Lindeman make a wide range of wines, but the entry level is quite common in supermarkets. which one did u get? try your bottle and tell us.

routinely in supermarkets, everytime i see the popular entry level aussie labels get a discount, that section will be the only part that is empty in the whole shelf.

Which wine do you think is good among the 3 types

Grosset Polish Hill Riesling 2010 (96 JH)

$50 net

Grosset Watervale Riesling 2010 (Used to be called Springvale) (95 JH)
(Riper more opulent fruit for me than the Polish Hill)

$42 net

Grosset Watervale Off-Dry Riesling 2010 (96 JH)
(Halliday speaks of 1970`s style vibrant and juicy fruit yielding to crisp acid and recommends cellaring out to 2030!)

$40 net

buy one of each, but be prepared to hold them for at least 5-6 years, 3-4, years, 1-2 years respectively.

Managed to get to the Marques de Murrieta tasting at Straits Wine UE Square. Yes, the Ygay Gran Riserva Special is really stellar. But I think the bottle my second glass came from wasn't breathed sufficiently.
The wine is on offer till Sat at $80+. Tried their other wines as well, a Tinto Reserva (R) and Capellania Blanco (W) and they were quality too. There was also some Parma ham (don't think it's Jamon Iberico haha) and cheese to go with wine; very nice for a free tasting, will be looking out for more of these :)

Italian wine outing sounds good, I've got quite a lot of wines to clear; an Aglianico, a Tuscan blend, Valpo Ripasso etc. that I've been itching to try.

On a related note, went to this Gattorpardo restaurant at Fort Canning for my wife's birthday, and right on cue, Tuesday is their BYO night. I thought this was a nice way of being friendly to customers, and sure enough the place saw a decent crowd for a Tuesday, with many bringing their own. Once I was in the restaurant I was wooed with warm and sincere service - quite a rarity here - and when I took a look at the wine list, I told myself wow, what a nice Italian collection, and the prices were very decent. They had wines, like a junior Le Volte from SuperTuscan producer Tenuta Dell'Ornellaia, available by the glass as well. Food wise the place was excellent as well, with some modern touches on classic Italian cuisine. They are famed for their Sicilian influences, and fresh mediterranean and Japanese seafood. All in all, a nice experience, thanks to BYO, that made me think of coming back, whether or not it's a Tuesday.

Forgot to mention, I had an Agostino Pieri Rosso di Montalcino that day. Very nice, a whiff of the powerful nose brings me back to the hilltops of Montalcino. Though it was a bit too full a wine for the food I had - Octopus and bone marrow risotto, Marinara pizza and seafood stew.

Anyone interested in Chateau Larmande Grand Cru 2001? Crystal Wines special offer. Wondering if can pool sufficient order for at least 12 bottles. If 24 bottles even better.

$65/bottle
$60/bottle for 12-23 bottles
$55/bottle for >24bottles.

I'm considering 6 bottles.

Visited a Portuguese colleague's house with my team for a dinner. Cooked a simple pasta and salmon dish and brought along a portuguese wine : 2003 Aurius from the Estremarudos region, where lisbon is in.

Blend of syrah, touriga franca andpetit verdot. Rich and full bodied with a nice Portuguese earthy element to the palate and a rose element to the nose
