Wah...Good drinkers...My group is one less bottle based on the total paxs...Its challenging to down a bottle of 75ml in a night per person

we don't necessarily have to finish all the wine in one sitting. many times the leftover wine tastes better the next day. a testament to the important of adequate oxidation.

need some wine fridge recommendation, as my old old one just died. been looking at the Vintec series, probably the V30SGME, V40SGEBK, ALV40SGE . not looking for anything much bigger (would love to tho'!)

anyone has a quick review on these ? or another brand, thats of similar price wise that you feel is better ?

leaning towards, the V30SGME due to the big price difference , around 700+ compared to 1.3+

thanks !

I do have the V30SGME but will be receiving my new 90 bottles capacity Europace one this weekend..There is nothing wrong with Vintec and it is because I buy too many wines faster than I can drink haha..In fact Vintec is a trusted brand but at a premium as you are aware...I would go for Vintec again if budget permits or 90 bottle capacity is busted!

One thing for sure get the largest one you can afford space wise and budget wise.:D

It all depends on whether you need a front venting fridge or not.
For my case I need because the fridge is going to be a table TOP fridge so if back-venting the warranty will not be covered for such config.
Front venting cost a bomb.
V40SGEBK is the one I am using now, good and quiet.

If you don't need front venting one, good! It will be much cheaper, and get one free standing version with more bottled capacity (if space permits)
Just 6 months and my cellar is full 😭

all chillers are made in china...thus the compressors are not made to last....specs are almost the same to across all brands.

Vintec prices are high because of the brand and the some additional features. If you are not planning to keep wines for like 2-5years. any chillers is good.

you can consider kadeka which is in the low-mid range with nice metallic design.

New French Wine online Store

Hello, I would like to introduce a new e-commerce platform that sells wine:Wine and Chill! They sell premium french wine at the best price, and same day delivery.

Another newcomer, selling the cheapest australian wines (but we can only by per case) is Vinomofo.

Hope everyone is enjoying their wines but I do believe the hwz forum rules prohibit advertising.

Drank this over boxing day dinner. He is the top german producer of pinot noir. In germany it's called Spätburgunder (sh-payt-bur-goon-duh). He has consistently able to compete with expensive pinot noirs from Burgundy itself.

Grown in the south-western region of Germany in Baden, this area is known for pinot noir. And at 14 years of age (it's a 2002 vintage) it has aged well but still retains loads of fruit, earthy mineral notes and lots of elegance.

the most important thing the customer/reseller will ask is how well the 82 latour has been kept all this while.

you can drop an email to Wine Exchange Asia or even Cornerstone.

It will be tough to sell it to retailers unless you are very close to them. its a big risk for retailers to buy from unknown sources esp an expensive bottle as if a customer complaints its a bad bottle or "fake" (not saying you) their reputation is at stake.

Amazing value bordeaux red wine for that special occasion

Le Clémentin du Pape Clément - Had this wine for my wedding anniversary dinner and boy did it impressed me and my wife.

This bordeaux red is a blend of 50% Cabernet Savignon, 47% Merlot, 2% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc.

On opening the bottle and decanting for 1 hour, you can smell rich bouquet of dark cherries, strawberries and even clementines (oranges). There are also milder notes of spice and smoke from 16 months aging in oak barrels. Dark ruby colour and medium bodied, you can continue swirling and smell the aromas for sometime before taking the first sip.

The taste in the mouth is nothing short of elegant and velvety. Black berries and chocolate comes to mind. Strong but structured tannins leaves a lingering finish in the mouth that continues to unravel even after you finish the wine. Medium acidity keeps you wanting to have the next sip.

An excellent wine to pair with our steak frites with the wine. We are definately getting more of this next time!

P.s. Noob member here, so i don't know how to upload pics from my computer. Appreciate if any shifu can teach me. Cheers! =)

Thanks for sharing! Which vintage was this?

To post pics you gotta first upload the image onto a file hosting site like tinypic or imageshack etc... there are many around.

Then when you are writing your post you can click on the image icon and paste the image URL before you post.

Are you planning to open anything this CNY?

Hi ikileo,

It is a 2012, which quite a good year for the bordeaux region.

Will try to upload the picture later, but maybe cannot upload because I am too junior?

CNY definately go for something big. Probably a Barolo, Sarmassa is my favorite for a big full bodied Barolo!

How about you?

Cheers!

Yes a good year indeed. A youthful wine that can definitely age. Yes I also think it's cos you don't have enough posts, you will need to check the forum terms on the main page to see the min before u can post pics. It's like 30 or 50 I can't remb.

Which producer of barolo from the sarmassa commune are you intending to drink? Any vintage you've picked out?

CNY for me iso with yu sheng and lighter foods I prefer wines that pair with them. I have some champagnes, aged German riesling and some natural aligote white burg to pair.

This week I have a monthly bind tasting. the theme set is classic old world at least 10 years or older. I'm doing a 1990 Spanish red from rioja from one of the classic producers: CVNE. Tried it once when I was in UK and loved it.

I like the Marchesi di Barolo's Sarmassa. Super heavy bodied, I like. I visited their winery 2 years ago, met the owner, very nice woman. Very impressed with their wine making process. I usually have the alot of bak kwa, shabu shabu and all the other heaty stuff! hahah!

I tried CVNE Imperial Gran Reserva 2009 when I was last in Haro. Agreed with you that is is a great wine. But my Rioja fave is still the Prado Enea 2006 from Muga. You should try the Vina Real Gran Reserva 2009 also from CVNE. Almost half the price compared to the CVNE Imperial but taste good!

How much was the monthly tasting?

Cheers!
