took some time...but finally got the notes up and running:

@Swordsman: for the wine in your picture. A half bottle (375ml) from a recent vintage will cost about RRP$600+. Older bottles will naturally cost even more as these wine are meant for long long long aging - the 1955 vintage is drinking very beautifully now)

you can hardly get good champagne at $20-$30 hence u have to explore sparkling wine from other regions. I will be doing a taste test for a sparkling wine soon and i will report back to this thread and my blog for pple to read. It falls between the $20-$30 region.

As for a dessert wine, you can go to Carrefour and pick up the 2005 Tempus Two Botrytis Semillon. Chill it a little, let it breathe and drink it over an hour or two. Perhaps it is a good time to learn how to enjoy things slowly. It costs about $32. I drank it about a week plus ago and wrote a review of it on my wine blog. the link can be found on pervious posts and on the first page of this thread.

Is this the second wine of chateau Beaumont? I bought 2 magnums of chateau Beaumont at 1855. Was on offer for $64.

Bought this from c4 as well for $37. It's a wine that you need to decant for an hour at least. Lots of berries, vanilla and ash.

Is this the one you recommended ? The centre bottle.. pretty weird shape for a wine bottle.

yeah, but most of the sweet dessert wine out in mainstream market that are cheap are essentially just sugar water.

i would possibly try Cooper's Creek Late Harvest Riesling sometime soon, price is pretty good so we'll see.

nono...from a quick search on the interweb, chateau beaumont's second wine is "Chateau d'Avrigny"

sorry, my bad. from their website and press kit, seems like both the Chateau d'Avrigny and the Les Tour de Beaumont come from Chateau Beaumont with the d'Avrigny as the official 2nd wine, while the Les Tour seems to be another label for export perhaps or could be their 3rd wine?

on another note, what is everyone intending to drink/buy this weekend?

i am going to pick up my pair of Grosset Rieslings from Wine Exchange Asia and my 5 wines (1 german kabinett, 1 german auslese, 1 aussie cab-merlot blend, 1 aussie cab, 1 loire sparkling) from Crystal Wines that I ordered a month or so ago.

i will be celebrating with my kaki who just got into post grad medical school. wanna go somewhere casual and doesn't cost too much. after some research, heading to Swiss Grill at Coronation Plaza. Corkage is $15and the grills and burgers are very nice, ate there before. was going through my wine excel sheet (an excel sheet really helps you keep track of stuff) and I couldn't really find a wine I could open now since most of them are not ready yet or i have reserved them for a specific occasion.

right now i am looking at an aussie cab by a very small producer (i can't even find his website) from Wrattonbully, a niche cool climate growing area which is known to produce high quality cabernets and shirazes. but who knows how it will taste? I will probably open in the early afternoon and do a quick taste test.
