Salt! Always wanted to try but fully booked each time I asked. Ambience must have been fantastic, ya?

A good, value-for-money place for steak I've found is Salta Parilla Bar & Grill at Icon Village, Tanjong Pagar. Opened by Far East, they use Argentine beef, which is supposed to be grass fed and free range. Prices for steak are about $30-45 with GST. Sweeteners are that they don't hv service charge, and you get to taste some decent Argentine wines at acceptable prices. Malbecs need no introduction, but I think their Cab Sauvs are very good value too.

At the price for the kind of beef, when compared to easily $50 for USDA Prime beef at steak places here, I think it's a fair price. Just a piece of advice, may have to communicate to them exactly how you want the steak done - the two times I've been - albeit over span of a few months - once it was overcooked and once it was too raw (even for me). Think the Argentines have a different understanding of how cooked beef should be, as do every beef-loving country.

Sorry for the OOT. No, I don't work for the place, I just dig the Argentine concept amidst a slew of Aussie, US, steak restaurants.

As for the dimsum lunch, I'm ok with Sat, Sun lunch.

Yup, a theme for the white wines sounds fun.
I have in my fridge at the moment a few different Rieslings and Gewurzs, as well as Aus Sauv Blanc, Semillion, Chard and Sem-Chards. Yet to find an occasion to try some of them so I'm open to options.

If there are only a few of us, are you all open to inviting partners? My wife's always game for good food and drink outings. I'm cool if you all just want to keep it simple though!

yeah Salt u gotta book few days ahead.. :) Not a lot of tables there for dining. And windows seat limited.

Hmm yup.. i tried the Salta lunch set with my friend. Not too bad and also the Buffet.. the buffet i think must book. Fully taken up man the seats. :)

so looks like 25 & 26 are the common dates.
So if I set it at 25th 11.30am, are we all good to go?

Cool, 25th lunch it is then.

I think I'll bring a NZ Gewurz.
Never done this before, do we need to bring along our own glasses, and what place will waive corkage for three bottles?

maybe 2 bottles.. i guess <100.

Sparking wine or Champagne will do fine. something bubbly.. i think they prefer champagne. im thinking of just getting the sub 100 Moet & Chandon.

ewww...the basic M&C is definitely not worth the money.

let me do a bit of research of where you can get a good sparkling wine (champagne or otherwise) for a better QPR.

wine wise, i think there's currently 3 bottles for 6 people is plenty so you can hold your carrefour wine for another outing :)

i don't mind doing it earlier but the restaurant doesn't open so early. earliest is 11.30am i think.
