If any comment /throught / TN about the 2005 Chateau de Fesles Bonnezeaux ?

still rather young. opened and let it in the bottle for about an hour or so before drinking.

Nose of honey, ginger, orange peel and some floral notes. On the palate it was dominated by honey and tropical fruits and apricots. very nice. In an ideal world would have savoured this lightly chilled but we didn't have a chiller. Nice balance and ripeness. Paired well with the strong cocoa notes from the chocolate souffle.

I am going to relocate ...and leave Sing. about mid Nov 2011. I have a wine fridge (Brandt CB1780 : 173 btl capacity) I got it 24th/Dec 2008.
Not sure if I will bring it with me now but try to see if anyone having any interest ...

FYI, this Brandt is poor man's version of Eurocave Compact V259 which spec / functions almost identical

had a dinner outing 2 weeks ago with colleagues as a farewell dinner for the interns. Had it at Straits Wines, Serangoon Gardens. Had 4 different wines. You can buy food and bring it there to eat, no extra charge

1st Wine: Spanish Cava

Very nice, clean and delicious and worth the money.

2nd Wine: NZ Pinot Noir

Rich and juicy easy drinking Pinot Noir. But doesn't taste like a traditional Pinot Noir from France.

3rd Wine: NZ Sauvignon Blanc

Classic NZ SB flavours but with a much heavier body. A little too weighty for me.

4th Wine: Italian Moscato d'Asti

Classicly sweet but relatively balanced. A touch too sweet for my preference but would balance well with spicy foods.

Chateau Petit Village, Pomerol 1983

Had this the weekend
Cork has been very soft/wet ... and broken while uncork.
Orange brick red edge showing the wine fully mature. In very 1st 10 minutes, the nose was bit odd ... eventually it was aged in bottle twenties' years .

After disturbing nose gone.... Aroma of ripe black fruit, very soft light, rose blossom, touch of dark chocolate and meaty. Tannins have completely melted to smooth finishing. Nice....

I would say nose is better than palate for this bottle.

After trying the Ripasso, just bought the more premium Amarone to try the difference! Waiting for the right time to open!

wow...u am finishing up the last half of the bottle now. couldn't finish on tuesday so drinking it 48 hours later. it's so much better now; and this is just their mid-tier riesling

really testament to the quality that Grosset makes. They truly are the best Riesling producer in Australia.

I've not had Clare Valley Riesling before. Was quite tempted by this offer at Cellar Doors: Mitchell Watervale Riesling 2009, $25.

Bought at Carrefour wine fair a few months back, came with a Local Nose recommendation. 58% Cabernet, 42% Merlot. Cabernet dominated character, licorice notes on the nose. Good finish. Great value.
- Wyndham Estate Pinot Noir Bin 333 2009
Have a lot of Aussie wine lovers in the family, so I tried this after reading about it on Strait Times some time back. Nicely balanced introduction to Pinot. Fruity, but with some character. On offer now at Cold Storage: $46 for 2, applies to most of the W.E wines. The Shiraz is pretty good for the (this) money. Time to stock up!

Italian wine outing sounds good. I've not tried Vino Nobile Montepulciano, would be interesting to see how the Sangiovese tastes different from the Montalcinos. I can bring a Rosso di Montalcino for comparison (or are we tasting blind again).

yehosaphat: Nice to hear you enjoying the wine. I bought one Ripasso too, now tempted to buy a few more. The last time I had Amarone it was with cheese and chocolate. It went pretty well, not sure if Amarone goes with meal food, it may be an in-between kinda wine.

As for the Italian wine outing venue, a friend told me of this place at Serangoon Gardens with BYO - Buono. Not been there but heard it's pretty decent. Anyone been there?

keep in mind clare valley rieslings are rather different from German ones. i got my grosset from wineexchangeasia.com, but you can buy 'em from 1855 Bottle Shop as well. Look out for the 09 and '10 vintage; but they're painfully young to open right now. try the mitchel if you'd like for a sensing.

also in a tiny store on the 2nd or 3rd level of Holland Village Shopping Centre (above Cold Storage) there is a wine store that carries mostly Aussie wine and they have a good producer there from the clare valley: Pewsey Vale.

as for italian wines, you can try a nobile to see how it tastes for that day. we can bring a range, tuscany, piedmont, campania, puglia etc...whites, reds, rose, sparklings, dessert etc... time to go out and search for 'em! Btw, always blind tasting

I've been to Buono several times, pretty good and well priced. we can share pizzas and have pastas and sides as well. and yes, no corkage

big retailers have them, crystal wines, enoteca etc...

you can check online retailers like one of the guys who was promoting his stuff or others like ewineasia.com and one of my faves intervino.com.sg - but collecting from them is very mah fan, in the middle of some industrial park in a metal shop hahaha...
