Come join our dinners, u will learn a lit ;)

Btw what topics did he cover?

Lastly did anyone get anything from the crystal wines recent Isole e Olena flash offer? If it's within your budget I would suggest u get their 2007 cepparello. It's bloody good but u need at least 10 years of sleeping; 100% sangiovese

he covered how to judge a wine, based on criteria like expressiveness, terroir, varietal etc. tried 4 types of wines (a sparkling wine from french, a sauvignon blanc from nz (if i remember correctly), an aussie shiraz and a carb sab from bordeaux).

i didnt get olena cos no patience to see the bottle lying for 10yrs. got aromes de pavie 2005!! hope it will arrive in time for Xmas!! :s13:

U keep the cepparello while u drink other wines while u wait. Ideally how I plan is that I have some nice bottles I will set aside while in the interim I also buy wines that can be consumed immediately and within 3 years. It's good to get a nice range so there is always something for u to drink.

Are u keen in joining us this weekend?

the problem tt i am facing now is i have too many bottles which need another 4-5 yrs to reach their peak (mostly 2004/2005 bordeaux), and very short of those bottles which can be popped and drunk ...

i will have to skip this weekend gathering, got something on aredi, will join u guys next round!

Hi everyone, I'm just a casual drinker and lately, a friend introduced me to Two Hands 2008 Grenache Shiraz Mataro. Like the taste as it's sweet, full bodied and smooth. Prefer this to Two Hands 2009 Shiraz which is lighter. *Would any bros be able to recommend other red wines of such taste and also, where I find gd supply of Two Hands Grenache Shiraz Mataro? Thank u in advance :)

Looks like u like em big and young :)

If ur style is more of the big rich and extracted fruit style, u can look into Argentinian malbecs, red varietals from the barossa valley and perhaps spanish wines from Ribera del duero.

Curiously enough do u let the wine breathe for a while after opening or donu start drinking once opened? Don't worry, there's no right/wrong

open question. 'cos i know people like the burst of flavours and some grip of the tannins while others like to let it breathe more to smoothen it out.

regarding Two Hands, Straits Wine Company (formerly Denise Wines) are the main retailers of Two Hands (I think).

Hi ikileo :) we did let it breathe awhile before we consume but I guess it's because my friends r into wine so they have certain preference. For me, I'm just enjoying the taste without much understanding about the make but yup, I like e taste n texture of this particular two hands Shiraz grenache Mataro :)

went to Straits wine coy along Bukit Timah but they only have 09 Shiraz. Went bottles n bottles at vivo but they ran out of two hands. The search is still on :) will look out for the two recommendations too.

We had B3 2008 Shiraz fr Barossa which is not bad but that time, we had this as 2nd bottle after the two hands so it makes B3 tasted lighter.

Generally I will decant the wines for at least half hr, depends on the grape varietal and vintage. But I will take a sip once I open the bottle and compare it after decanting for 1/2 hr or more, always like the open wine!
