Next, when I research on CT for supermarket wines, your name often crops up, especially NTUC ones like Alkoomi, Simi (Californian but sounds so Hokkien), Ashbrook (one of my favs) and stuff available at local wine stores, like Wise Shiraz, Turkey Flat, Two Hands etc.

Yeah I used to taste more supermarket wines and even now I still regularly buying from NTUC fairprice/Finest. Those few you mentioned is my favourite QPR wines as well(provided on promotion :D). If someone ask me what to buy from NTUC I will definitely recommend Ashbrook, Simi, Alkoomi and Franciscan.

Hehe the Simi wines reminds me of the Simi apps in mr. brown show :s13:

was at ToTT again today to pick 2 spanish wines.

one for my wedding dinner tmr night and one for reign.

@reign: i got your vina alberdi ($38). pass to you the next time we see

Nice surprise, the lady opened 2 bottles of their higher end wines from Bodegas Muga (great producer) the 04 Prado Enea Gran Reserva and the 05 Gran Reserva. Same producer, similar grapes and yet a discernable difference in the style of wine.

today on leave...haha...

eh...whole year virtually never too leave, now time to clear clear clear!!!

case in point for the 2 wines by MUGA. Overall while the '05 was rather accessible the '04 was initially rather austere but over time it developed into something far more complex and enjoyable in the '04. but these guys can last for much longer in the cellar.

You can watch a review of the 01 Prado Enea (skip to 18:00)

what did u guys drink over the weekend?

Aside from my Muga tastings, I opened a 09 Schlossgut Diel "Diel de Diel". A very good producer in Nahe, Germany but this was their entry level white cuvee, blend of riesling, pinot blanc and something else...

I only opened the Brown Bros Moscato as the girls like it. Find it too sweet for my liking.

i opened La Gravette De Certan 2006 tt i bought from vinum, the nose is very perfumed and fruity. decanted for 1 hr and drank over 1 hr, i find the taste is a bit tight, good structure of tannin but quite approachable. it got more open after 2hrs, but, i think it needs 1-2yrs .good bottle anyway.

Puy Blanquet should be drunk first, although it is a Saint-Emilion Grand Cru, the bodied is fairly light with some nice secondary development. i.e: earth and leather.

The rest can be drunk with some decanting and still good for keeping at least another 3-5yrs.
