ugh...more bad news...

GUIGAL OFFERS!!!

http://library.constantcontact.com/download/get/file/1101372674675-402/Order+Form+-+Guigals.pdf

i am getting the basic hermitage blanc and the st joseph blanc also

this year i am getting more into non-red wines.

great producer, guigal that is. if u have the dough go for the ex-voto hermitage, if not get his other northern rhone appellation wines as that's his speciality.

phew, luckily i am not familiar with rhone wines... plus, i just ordered 3 more bottles of this brunello di motalcino castellani 2006 ($59/bottle) from WC. bought 1 to try last wkend, was very impressed with the nose and its powerful yet fine finishing. good to drink now or keep for 5 years! praying hard tt not more offers now, or else, i will be broke b4 CNY..

@hkm - did u buy this from vinum sales? i have cleared mine few weeks ago. find it is very full flavour on both the nose and palate. very well made st julien, but, maybe a touch too heavy to me. seems like u prefer heavy body bottle.. hehe

@MC: Yes I bought fr Vinum/Caveau sale too.

Having been started with Shiraz and like full bodied Shiraz. My palate seems to use to heavy wines (my tongue numb already :s22:) so the Moulin Riche is like medium bodied to me. Just nice and not heavy. In fact I feel other Bordeaux wines from Pauillac & ST Julien at Cru Class level will have more bodied and texture than this.

Good wines produced from SA winery Dombeya. Have tried the whole range. Like the Chardonnay with typical SA expression of butterscotch, a little sweet. SB is fresh. For reds I like the blend Samara & Cab Sau although someone commented a bit austere. Less impress with Merlot & Syrah that features in this tasting but I guess I know why :s8:

I got from Caveau this half-bottle too. From your notes, seems ready to drink, but patience can be rewarded :) Read an interesting article before on how half-bottles evolve faster:

Dug it up here: Is Wine in Half-Bottles Fully Worth It? | Food & Wine

Thanks for the interesting article. Yes I am fully agree/aware that half bottle evolve faster and that's why I drink up that half bottle instead of intend to cellar it. And it is already beautiful now although I believe it can be further improve. But I'm not going to risk on it.

How was the Donnhoff night?

yup it was very good. Herr Donnhoff was very passionate about his wines (he calls them his children). Stylistically he doesn't make regular german riesling IMO. his rieslings have got both power and elegance depending on the vineyard site.

some were incredibly floral while some had exotic notes and spices in them. very interesting from a lot of other producers. the other top producer in Nahe is Schlossgut Diel, whose style again differs. so within this small region, there is a variety of expression which is great.
